I am thinking about converting the 2.0 to a six with HP in the low 200s, but before I go on with the conversion, how fast will the car be, what other cars can it beat, 0-60 times.

My mild built 350 Chevy in my car routinely outruns Z06 Vettes in the street. I don't worry about grinding reverse when I go from 1st to 2nd...I just take off in 2nd, 1st gear is a simply a waste of time. I'm really worried about destroying the trans, so a good slip of the clutch and granny shifting...I can't imagine what times I would have with a shift and drop clutch method of driving; maybe many times in the garage fixing things.
Even in normal driving, the car does just fine taking off in 2nd. The difference between a 300 horse Chevy and a 300 horse Porsche engine, is the Chevy's horsepower curve is flat! I've got a much larger average horsepower across the rpm range than the Porsches....except now with the variable cam timing; that is way cool stuff! The rice rockets are simply getting on my nerves and wasting my gas. |
