OK so I went down and got some aircraft stripper this morning. Reading and taking everyone's suggestions, based on previous posts. THis is some kind of joke right? THis is something everyone plans for the newbies?
It is coming off but with three layers of paint good god what a pain in the ass....... I sear there is 12 coats of paint ifthere's one!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) To top it off. I'm having the carpet cleaned, and the guy is running the hoses through the house, and then out the garage. He is finishing up and while winding his hoses, he knocks over the pan I'm using to brush the stripper on the car with, and the can of the stripper. Dragging the drop clothes the length of the garage!!!! Is everyone stupid around the country, or just in California!!! Deep breath!!!!!! mmmm ok...Back to work..... |

The dry ice is a good deal , it can also be used in the hot sun on paint to remove small dings and hail dents. Apply DI and quense with a cold rag, wa-la.
At work we blast 18 wheelers and large equipment, we use Walnut shell , for us its the best , good on rust, leaves a profile, doesnt bleed out, removes paint, enviro friendly as it can be. With all that said I thought I would try the razor blade trick last night on my 914 right rear qtr, took all of 20 min (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif) . Well it work wonderfully, 7 coats of paint and you can remove them a coat or two at a time! Leaves a very workable finish that can be backed up with a DA for finish work . Thanks for the tip.....3cwest you can teach an old dog new tricks. |
