I was told to start a new thread on this one.
I want to remove the head gasket from my 1.7. Can I remove the head gasket and still use the stock base gasket? I know there are replacement base gaskets to bring it back to stock compression but, will leaving the stock base gasket raise the compression too much? I can't find the link to the calculator to look this up. Sorry if it seems like I'm (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dead horse.gif) but thanks for the info |

ok, I have read all the comments. Including captn krusty's, Jake is the only person to respond to my question with any type of validity.
The captn. said "why remove them", why not, explain. I did not realize this was a hot button topic Can anyone answer this question? what is the CR of a stock 1.7 with dished pistons? Thanks for all the feedback BTW |
