How much room do you get? one spot semi off-street under a tree ... and yes, my car fills up with water when it rains ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Andy |

My wife is very understanding. When I bought my 914 about two years ago she let me use both stalls, one for the BMW and one for the 914. She has a Honda Odyessey and started parking it outside. About 3 months ago I bought a 2nd 914 and wanted to park it in the garage, so I opened a slot into my shop so I could park all the cars inside (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) . It was very cost effective and seems to be working out quite nicely. If I ever move, I want a 6 car garage/shop. Something to look forward to!

I think I feel sorry for some of you guys. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
We have a 4 car garage and 5 cars. The garage on the right with the white 911 is two deep. All cars except the 914 are ours. Wife thinks 914's hate her. All 4 Porsches and the subi are daily drivers. When one of us leaves we take which ever one we want, although the new Boxster is is high demand right now. Wife loves to drive Porsches and is good at it. The only real drawback to this plan is that when a car needs to be washed its mine, so sometimes they stay dirty for a while. |

Our 2.5-car garage here at the house is crammed full of my tools, parts and three cycles (one's my wife's, but I pull it in & out for her). EDIT: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) just realized that sounded kind of, uh ... Never Mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
Our 3-car garage is five miles away. Its mainly for storage: two P-cars, more parts and more cycles. 7/8th's of it is mine ... me wife gets some room for storing a few pieces of furniture she doesn't want to get rid of (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Our daily drivers including her 914 are outside in the driveway and/or on the street (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... two more 914s are under covers. Our eventual goal is to have a separate garage for the DD's, another for parking the finished cars and cycles, and a LARGE shop for working on them. Her garden tools are in a shed where they belong (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Attached image(s)

Currently I get two of the three stalls. A complete 12 x 25' bay is on the list to be added soon that will be exclusively for man cards only. Only the 914, beer fridge and dart board will be in the new garage. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Heres my cracker-box, my neighbor is sewing my wife and I along with the association board of directors for noise complaints. I installed 3 layers of sound board and don't really make much noise anymore.. Can't wait for my wife to retire, then I'll get a shop to work in... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

Simple, I get the garage from May to October for my 1st 914 and she gets the garage from Nov 01 to May 01 for her Camry. I don't mind too much when its -40*C outside and the car is + 10*C in the garage.
It will be interesting next spring when I bring home P2 and my P1 my DD and only have enough room for one 914 in the garage. |

Heres my cracker-box, my neighbor is sewing my wife and I along with the association board of directors for noise complaints ... John, If I can ask: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) 1. Has this neighbor actually started legal proceedings or is she just 'threatening' legal action at this point? 2. What sort of noise is the neighbor complaining about? 3. What does she expect to gain from filing a full-blown law suit? ... a monetary figure settlement? ... or just noise abatement? |

We in Ca. must attempt arbitration/mediation first before a case can be filed, so we are set to meet tomorrow night. My wife and I will be meeting with our association attorney and the board with this thing that lives next to me and her lawyer. I don't at this time know what she wants, other than abatement.. This should be interesting.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) She says I make too much noise in the garage, really it must be heavily muffled by the time it gets to her and my wife makes too much noise in the morning getting ready for work ???? she has some bazaar complaints for sure.. I stop all work at 6:00 pm per my agreement with my association and they haven't said anything to me since.. |

I'd love to buy that tub Jonathan ... just don't think me wife would take kindly to the arrangement (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) ... there's 3 914's here now (recently picked up a '72 parts car from Scott Kline).
--------------------------------- John, hope the situation turns out to be just an abatement issue, which at this point sounds most likely. Has your sound-proofing helped much? We built a small recording studio in a garage years ago ... installed fiberglass insulation between the wall studs and on the garage door, but stapled thick shag carpet over the insulation instead of a hard surface ... this absorbed way more sound waves (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rock_band.gif) Even just doing something like this in the corners might help with your particular situation a little better? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Keep us posted ... |

Get rid of the bikes over the 911's, set the tub in the garage sideways, attach rope to tub through the front and rear shock top holes and lift with a couple pullies on the ceiling. It only weighs about 4 hundred pounds!!!!!! |

My wife insists on parking her car in the garage so I have limited space for my car. How much room do you get? I had a monopoly on the garage for 2 1/2 years while I did my resto and electric conversion. However, now that I'm done, it's time to share and share alike: ![]() |

Mine isn't bad.....but I do have to move the 914 out to get into my toolbox or my freezer....having the Sequoia on the other side make my garage small...someday I will have a 30x50'...oh wait...no I probably won't! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) I could always follow the neat doorway into the shop trick seen earlier, I could pull it into the livingroom, hook it up to the PS3 and play racing games during the winter!
