Too clean (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ??? My 914 is just as clean or cleaner and I am gonna flare it. I was hoping to find one that was not as nice but this is what I bought and unless someone wants to trade my super clean 1973 injected 1.7 for a project ....... the saw, cutting wheels and TIG welder are coming out as soon as I recieve my steel AA flares (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif)

I do not believe in cutting a nice 914 EVER! That means no lumping it with strange engines no color changes no carburation and NO FLARES!!
Flares are to help correct bad body work or to transform a ragged 914 into a thing of GT beauty.

However we DO have over 200 up the street begging to be brought back, and I am sure that they would accept anything you wanted to do to them, and so would I!!!!!!!!!! The more 914s on the road the better.
By the way it is Chad Dixon's birthday today (37) and he is busily working on his steel flared, rotory powered 914!!!!!!!!!! He calls it his 913x

Hey George, how about a free 914 (and title) with the purchase of a set of flares and rockers?

It will be a sin to cut my rear quarters, so clean and pretty...

I've read over 20 threads of various "rustorations". Lots of time and money. Lots! Even the guys who weld spend money on the replacement metal and supplies. Most of the threads I've read are 3+ years long and don't have finished pictures of the car. So I'm lead to believe they are still on jackstands in the garage. I'm still picking up the rust free roller (rust free because PO spent $4K on rust repair) but I will probably resell since I don't have time or ability to put it back together.

Ok, somebody has to be the last guy in. Is it me? I'll take one set of flairs and one set of GT rockers. Can I pick them up at AA as I live x20min from there? On my way to the bank, PO and FedEx. Thanks for doing this

GT flares is the reason I bought my 1973 1.7 914. It is clean, low rust, doors close nicely with FI that still works. I tried buying a basket case to flare but the examples I saw at the time were very bad shape considering what the owners wanted for them.

The one I ultimately bought had a high asking price but we had good conversation and the guy liked the idea I was gonna turn it into a GT.
