I do not believe in cutting a nice 914 EVER! ...

However we DO have over 200 up the street begging to be brought back, and I am sure that they would accept anything you wanted to do to them, and so would I!!!!!!!!!! The more 914s on the road the better.

Hey George, how about a free 914 (and title) with the purchase of a set of flares and rockers?

It will be a sin to cut my rear quarters, so clean and pretty...

That is a great idea. If I could get 40 participants who would be willing to buy 1500.00 worth of 914 parts, for each I would give them a free 914 (with title) to restore! I donate the 914 and YOU save it!

George, Do you have 40 cars that are rebuildable? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I may be in on this one! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

YES MANY more than 40. Years and years ago an old mentor of mine from Connecticut, Oliver Jones, said upon looking at my 356 cabriolet restoration project, "George I used to cut up 356 speedsters that made your car look like a pile of junk" From that moment on I vowed NEVER to again cut a 914 unless it was horribly crashed. Instead I took them up the street and parked them on our four acres. They rest in peace until someone comes along to save them.

No problem, I had a good time and had fun talking 914 with so many people. Thanks to all the members at this site and others for stepping up in such a short time. Since we are close to 50 sets, I'm considering this a big success. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Thanks also to George Hussey at Auto Atlanta for giving us the opportunity. Mark you did a fabulous job, and just to let everyone know how popular 914s and 914 gt conversions are these days,(good for all of us who own one or several!!!) we sold an additional 20 sets to two wholesalers in Germany! (SAME GROUP BUY PRICE)
Like like creating a 73 911 rs clone, 914 gt clones are the rage!
Thank everyone who participated in this group buy.

Oh no! I already have 3 that still need work.

Now I want 10 more... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

Can I pick them up at the southeast cancer clinic? I'll get them blasted, welded,
and primered and be ready to paint and assemble.

Read my 1973 thread and see how I saved a lot of money by spending $24,000+ on a $500 914.

It would all be so worth it if I could just get done. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Funny... I could use rear flares for the tail dragger! It's at least 80 percent of the way to a 2.7 RS clone already.

Steel Flare update:
(as told by George Hussey - AA)

checks arrived. We are processing! Thank you again.
I just talked with Tim, and he has the dies out (took two days!) Tomorrow he will load the fronts (that will take a day) and then he will begin doing the fronts, and next week will set up the rears. The production of the 100 sets will take three to four weeks, he will do twenty five sets at a time and trim and send.

Please let me know who paid first and those are the ones who will get their flares first.

------
So it looks like production has begun. I am still receiving the last of the money orders and will send them to AA next week. Thanks, Mark-the flare guy-Epstein
