I have been working my tail off and saving money to build my 2litre motor this summer, so far i have saved $2500, If should have another $1500 in a month or so. However, I have been seeing 2.7-6 and 2.4-6 on ebay, the recycler and other places from $850.00 - $4000.
My question is - is it worth upgrading to a 2 litre from my 1.7, when a couple of thousand dollars more, i could get a six? And what is involved (price wise) to convert it from a 4 to a six. Give me some feedback - Craig |

QUOTE(Brad Roberts @ Apr 7 2003, 02:41 PM) The new owner is on here. His name is Tim. He got what I felt was fair deal for a super clean chassis/decent paint. He ended up rebuilding the engine (its on his avatar) I wish he had more time for the BBS. I know he has engineering skills that could help us out on some new parts. Hey! People are talking about me! Normally I'm just overwhelmed by the number of posts. I pick and choose what to read... this thread made the cut (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) As for this thread on converting to the 6, it was surely easier and cheaper to buy something that was already converted, but needed mechanical work. And rebuilding the 6 wasn't that big a deal. Yes more expensive than a 4, no doubt, but I did everything except the head rebuilding in my own garage. Granted, my garage is a bit better equiped than some. I've spent less then 4 grand total on an engine rebuild and lots of enhancements/upgrades. That doesn't count my recent spending spree. Brad, I do have a fair number of little "clean up" and "replace" work i'm doing on the 914. I've got some interior customizations that are coming up, simple stuff. The shifter thing is on my plate. Other stuff like better fuel lines and such was really about finding good parts (summit racing helped me out). .tim |
