Finished up the install on the Tangerine Racing remote oil cooler. Redid the hoses supplied with true SS reinforced versions. While the engine was out did a valve check and replaced the cover gaskets. Installed a billet replacement for the taco plate. Rebuilt the oil breather system as it leaked like a sieve. Glad I did that as the internals were broken. No more oil vapor soaking the top of the motor I hope. Rechecked the Webers, they were new this past year, and found a few discrepancies. Made those right.

Assembled all and today turned the key for the first time since Octeenerfest. Started right up and runs great. Didn't exercise her too much as it's only 38 degrees out. All seems good so she's put away for the winter - in heated storage.

Took the red '73 to C&C at Penske Musuem in north Scottsdale yesterday. Took the silver '71 on a ride today- hadn't driven it in quite a while and it needed some exercise!
Wouldn't be doing that if I still lived in Iowa... (though actually it was 50 in Des Moines today but with lots of salt residue on the roads)

Drove Igor around doing errands yesterday. Guy in a GMC SUV gave me a thumbs up at a light.

Driving an 914 never fails to make me grin...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Went for a drive in the '74 and had to put it on a trailer to get it back. Looks like I lost the aftermarket fuel pump that someone had put in.
Fortunately, I have a spare CB Performance 3.5lbs rotary fuel pump here already. Gonna change it out on Wednesday.

Finally got around to adding transmission bling since Dr Evil overhauled it. I had him install 6 bolt 911SC axle flanges so I can use 944 CV's with the custom axles I have. Still looking for a NOS transmission backup light switch. Using URO solid 914-6 six transmission mounts. Transmission case has been sprayed with LPS 3 to prevent corrosion.

Installed Spokes rear lights to complement his fronts I installed last year. Also installed his relay so my turn signal indicators finally work. Another 1st class company offering 1st class products. Service after the sale is important and missing from many companies nowadays. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Here's to you Jerry. @Spoke . Next, I need to change out the side marker bulbs to be 100% LED. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Good job. Spokes LEDs are the first mod every 914 owner should do. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Drove the daily with the top off, it was 61 here yesterday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Then cleaned out all the ripped up interior bits from the @#@!ing racoons in the bumble bee project. Hey it is starting to smell better now at least. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

And a nice surprise too-- catch pan still clean almost a month after oil return tube o-ring and rear shifter seal replacement:

Stains on the cement floor show how extensive the leaks were (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif)

Gotta get some oil eater...or cat litter!

Spray some 'Purple Power' on those oil stains, scrub, and spray water with a jet nozzle (or a power-washer) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
