I can't go this year. Damn it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I can be the usual selfish bastard that I am or go to an event that my wife is interested in. I usually do what I want so I'm going to do something different and not put myself first. I gotta do one of these every once in awhile. Keeps her off track and me out of the dog house. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) I told her "no way" last week. She'll be surprised. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Awards are being manufactured by John Peterson. Since I have been handed this project without adequate training or adult supervision - I have made the arbitrary and unilateral decision to change some of the usual award classes: Best of Show. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) Most Original 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) Most Creative Custom Mod. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) Cleanest 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif) (The Ferg Memorial) Long Distance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Best Non NARP. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif) (The James Dean Memorial - Rebel Without a Car) The Gambler. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) (you really took a chance driving that thing here) That Guy/Girl. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) I gave you $20 and promised you free smokes for the weekend and STILL no best "Yellow '75 3.2 conversion" award. This is bullshit. I'm out. |

Made my reservation! Or I at least hope I did. Guy took all my info to give to a gal on vacation who is handling the reservations (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) . She's supposed to get back to me with confirmation.

She's supposed to get back to me with confirmation. Same here. Called and left my first name and phone # for the group reservations girl to get back to me. She called a few days later, asked what kind of room I wanted and my zip code. No full name, no CC, no confirmation #. I guess I've got a reservation? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

Sharon has suggested a new drive. It's about 130 miles RT. Route is Beaver via I-15 Parowan out 143 thru Brian Head to Panguitch up 89 to 20 back to I-15 up to Beaver.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i239.photobucket.com-1696-1342886730.1.gif) Elevation change is from 6800' up to 10,900'. Via "Google Earth Street View" it looks pretty good unless there is snow/ice. I'm sure we can find an appropriately expensive lunch stop in Brian Head for Wills and vegan fair for Elleyot. Comments? |

I drove Rt 143 from Parowan to Panguitch in mid September a few years ago and there had been a dusting of snow overnight. I think that could happen any of the roads that cross the mountains between 15 and 89. A nice stop on the way would be Cedar Breaks National Monument (grayed area below #3 on the map) Scenery similar to Bryce, entry is $4 person.

I've driven the stretch from Brian Head to Panguich many times. Great scenery and lots of open curves that would be great for a 914 run. The scenery at Brian Head & Cedar Breaks is great. I've never driven from Parowan to Brian Head, but it looks like it would be a great drive. The drive from Brian Head to Cedar City is almost vertical because it covers so much altitude change in short a short distance, but the distance from Parowan to Brian Head should spread out the elevation change enough to make it a great run with lots of twisties thrown in.

Hey, I don't wanna know who is going to win events in advance . . . (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Maybe I will try to win Best Non-NARP this year. I couldn't take home that trophy with the Rabbit or the 350Z. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) I hope I will have better luck if I bring a Real Porsche.
