Really? What a different point of view. For me no car is EVER fast enough. So that means I"m a "cup half empty" kind of guy?

Fast enough to hunt down two GT-3's during the SCCA PDX at Summit Point last weekend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) right up until I busted the transmission for the third time. It's back together and we will do it again at the PCA DE in October (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Im gonna give it another shot tonight. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) What are tips for the best score. My first run, I squeaked the rear wheels on startup. Am I looking for a full skid to start? I will make sure the car is fully warm, less than 1/2 tank gas etc. Shifting just befor redline ??

I'm at VIR running the South Course yesterday and today. The back straight is about a half mile long with lots of up hill in it and I'm seeing 105 by the gps in my phone.....about 5300rpm in 5th with Z gearing. I'm on 225x50x 16......don't have a chart......Andrew?
I'm the only teener out of over 100 cars......so getting lots of papparazzi and well wishers. Other drivers surprised to learn that it's a 4......'course it's a Raby kit 2316 with SDS driving ITB's & Tangerine exhaust.....
We'll be on the full course tomorrow so I'll be able to update with longer runs on the straights.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) OK, on Monday's runs on the full course at VIR I was topping out at 5800rpm on the back straight, which on the chart is 'tween 120 & 125 with my gearing. Cell phone gps was saying 120. Got close to that fast on the front straight, but the turn 1 psych situation wouldn't let me look at the tach that close to the braking zone.....
Had a blast at the event with perfect weather....did a go-pro on one session, but rental camera setup has the rearview mirror blocking straight ahead on the track. Might post a bit of it up if I can figure out how to get it translated from DVD format...

140 MPH. That was before I put in the taller road gear. I'm too scared to try it again.

Fast enough in 1980 to outrun a good friends brand new RX7 on the highway. The sight of that Mazda fading off behind me was one of those priceless moments.
I never heard how wonderful his car was again, after that game of tag.

I'm know he wasn't impressed to lose to a 10 year old car.. Doubt he remembered I had a 2.5 SS/6 in my car.. No air cleaners and only straight through resonators on a set of racing headers. 14" wheels and no rev limiter.. incredible sounding..

but that was a very long time ago..

105 mph on I-5 in CA in a 1973 914-4 2.0; at which point the windshield trim piece on the right side peeled off & was gone forever
.

138 mph in my 914-6 on I-5 in Oregon before the speed laws took effect

Mine is so unrelentingly fast I had to get the ultimate bumper sticker to go with it, "I may not be fast but I am infront of you, until you get out your walther ppk and waste my worthless ass."

Top speed run in the fast lane, 51 MPH (since I was sparing the rev limiter, but since I really don't have one - I just go straight on to implosion at 53 MPH).

FYI all, Here is the 914 gearing calculator.. Its in the FAQ's

http://www.914world.com/specs/regearing_901.php
Is the how to, In the middle of the article is the excell sheet,

http://www.914world.com/specs/regearing_90...io_workbook.xls

Check your tire size here, as the default tire size is pretty small and needs to be changed.
