What have people done as an alternative to the spare tire pressure for the windshield washer pressure? Has anyone tried tapping into the air emissions pump pressure? Or installed an aftermarket electric pump? Recommendations?

I used a 911 pump. Works great, is readily available, looks suspiciously like the 914/6 electric pump and best of all, is from Porsche!

The "gummed up" is likely from the failure to use w/s washer solvent in the appropriate concentration and to not using the system often enough. That "gum" is probably algal growth in the washer bottle.

914-6 Pump. Stock mounts. Stock location. Made a harness and used a 924 switch with a pull stalk to operate the pump:
