i think that makes room for the huge adapter to fit between itself and the 928 motor.

So whats with the trani?? Why did you cut it?

Did I not read something??

Or does top secret really mean top secret....

Check this link. There were several questions posed about the transaxle mod and the other options one may consider.

It's not rocket science. No super secret hand shake needed either. Just an over powering desire, or maybe a calling, like something you can explain or control..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/assimilate.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

If you need any of your steel engine parts metallic ceramic (jethot) coated, try my contact at Xtreme Heat Coatings, 805-388-9983 ask for Allan. Great hi temp coatings, resistant to just about anything, up to 1500 deg. f . Since the OE exhaust manifolds fit this conversion well, you may want to further improve the flow with an Extrude Hone process. You will get "Almost" the effect of tuned headers, for a fraction of the header costs.

I was chatting with a guy in Texas that built a supercharger setup for the 928 motor. He told me the stock manifolds showed better dyno numbers than the aftermarket headers. I used standard high temp paint on my manifolds. That lasted about two days! I would really like to Jet Coat mine!

Is the void around the cylinders the waterjacket? If it is how do you get a decent flow of water in and out?

yes thats the water jacket. when I took the head gaskes off I abous crapped my drawers when I saw that. The heads are tapped at the rear to flow up and out.
As for the exhaust I have a set of the stainless manifolds off a later model that fit this engine and flow better according to the 928 guru I talked to down here.

What kind of motor are you going with, after you get that one all apart?

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Too many money holes in that motor for me!

I'm watching this thread...thinking more and more about following in your footsteps. The 'Chevy' V8 thing doesn't excite me much, but if more people can figure out the 'right' way to do this...I'm game!
