Rant on.

i'm personally get very tired of the bad advice given by some folks here who obviously have no idea what they are talking about, and probably don't own a 914 or have never even seen one, much less driven one. You know who you are! I will not name names. Newbies, do a search before you post your questions, and take into consideration that not everyone here is a "guru", including me. I state only facts that I believe are true, recheck my facts before I do a final post, and delete the ones I think might be questionable or make me look like a complete dumbass! I give advice on the stuff I know to be fact, and request knowledge of things I don't know about from those I respect. Other than that, I try to keep my mouth shut and talk about Fat Tire, but you guys have tripped my trigger!!!!!!!!

Bullshit artist beware! I'm gonna bust your balls every chance I get!!!! No Mercy!

Rant off

if you are not man enough to name names then send them an email in private with your complaints. there is no use making this public statement to people you aren't going to clue in.

I'll bet the variation on the wieght of Fuchs had something to do with it. I remember someone was peeved off by an answer about that. I'm just glad my advice is always 100% accurate! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

This "problem" is as old as the Internet itself, and has gotten much worse since 1988, when I first started to waste time on it. The barrier to simply saying what's on your mind, or parroting garbage, is simply too low. The solution now is the same as it was then, if someone is wrong, correct them. Explain why they're wrong. Cite references if you can.

There is nothing more irritating to me than someone shouting "You're wrong!" at me w/o saying what's wrong and offering the right answer. We all learn if someone else publicly corrects a mistake (which can be done politely). Of course, the "right" answer is often wrong in itself, which can start a lively discussion (ahem), which is what this forum and others like it are all about.

And the results still aren't in, since two of the five answers were 9-ish lbs, two others were 13-ish pounds, and the last was 11-ish lbs.

And the first person who stated the 9-ish number (me) owned up to the fact that the number may be completely bogus, even though it agrees with a certified scale. The thing learned here was that weighing things isn't as straightforward as it seems. Full disclosure all around, and if anyone is still offended about that, tough.
