Adrian Kronauer. (sp? Something like that.) Trivia--the real guy, Kronauer, started trying to pitch his AFRN experiences as a basis for a TV show back in the late 70s or early 80s. At the time, the two most popular TV shows were "M*A*S*H" and "WKRP in Cincinnati", so he figured his pitch was sure to succeed. Boy, was he wrong... Took until the 90s to get made into a movie! --DD |

Corona will survive and Mark, not to worry about Aaron. Our little group gets a bit testy sometime, but all in fun. We prolly should email some of these barbs, but just too much fun to post. Come to WCC2005. We talk to each other this way all the time. We don't think Aaron is really gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Visit Beautiful Corona |

I thought everyone acknowledged that this place is like a hang out, a garage, where everyone is sitting around talking. Most friends will bash on each other for something stupid, like on Aaron because he is gay. Notice I said we bash on Aaron, not bust on him... That's saved for Slits.
If you can't take the shit, hang out with the guys that don't throw it, like on the Bird Board, or buy a 911 and join the little pee pee club. The whole reason I like this place is because it is laid back. You can screw around, no one gets mad. Okay, and name the movie with this quote originally.... Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get the fuck over it. No, I don't know, so let's all agree on an answer, I don't want anyone getting upset because it is the wrong answer. |

Like Stepford. Or the place Homer relocated his family to to work for Mr. Scorpio. I love it. We should do something like that video for our club. And have some smooth talker narrate it. Jen |

Thank you Mark for understanding, but you put it in an open forum, so you were answered in an open forum.
Now back to the subject at hand........... Each of us has a different experience level and responds to questions based on that level. Most of us have enough common sense to know when advice is "bad".....use that common sense and follow your gut feeling. If this whole thread is about the "chopsticks" thingy....then the answer about just running the engine has some validity even though I have not personally experienced it. Since combustion temperature is around 1400 - 1600 degrees F, a cocktail stirrer nor chopstick would survive very long. A worst case scenerio would be a hardened depost in the combustion chamber and the phosgene gas emitted as the "plastic" burns. In turning an engine over, the plastic would be broken into small pieces that should pass out of the combustion chamber, with the worst case scenerio being a piece stuck between the valve and the seat. This could result in the piston hitting the valve, but at the low revolutions, it would serve to bust the plastic rather than bend the valve or crack the piston. I would, personally, fish it out or disassemble the engine......... I'm done....................... |

You get what you pay for, and free advice is just that.
While I don't totally disagree with you Curt, it is an open forum, so bad advice is just a freely given as good, and unfortunately the bad advice has the same right to be posted as good. It falls upon the solicitor of any technical advice to consider the source, and the basis for whatever opinion is given. If you take bad advice and lunch your engine, it's your own fault. We've all done dumb stuff with wrenches in our hand (or nearby). It's what you do after you make a dumb mistake. Ok, you stepped in it, do you clean it up or smear it around everywhere?? If this thread is in reference to what we can all now call "The Chopstick Incident", I recieved a PM more or less blasting me for posting my opinion, regardless of my own technical experience. Good for him! I'm a grown up and I can stand behind my opinions just as much as someone can feel justified helping someone ruin an engine. This is just my opinion though, and I've been wrong before. Go ahead fire that puppy up and see what happens (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) |

I watched that whole video. I grew up in Norco and used to hang out in Corona. That video is make believe. They only show you the nice new parts of Corona and not downtown ot where everyone has to shop. They dont show you the bario that spreads all the way across it. We could do one like that for Compton too. Or east LA. What a crock. |

We should have two hats made up so we know where people stand:
Hat one-Chopsticks with the classic red circle and red slanted line through the chopsticks, denoting 'NO CHOPSTICKS' Hat two-A pair of chopsticks holding a T-IV engine, denoting 'LUNCH YOUR ENGINE' What do you think? Yummy. Pass the soy sauce: Attached image(s) |

I think every day there is a little bit more whining and complaining taking place on this BBS. And every day there is a little bit more push to be more politically correct and nice, etc. Remember the good old days when this place was run by an Asshole and it was "anything goes"? I think there was a lot more technical content back then too.
(Yes that was whining.) GO WORK ON YOUR CARS, PEOPLE! Do something productive. |
