just cancelled my online reservation and called to make a reservation over the phone. adult male on the phone told me he is the new owner and that they close on the property in 2 weeks. Told me that he may not be honoring previous reservations and wouldn't make one with me...

wtf!

claimed he had told expedia 2 weeks ago that he would be remodeling and may not be open in march. Uncertain until he closes on the property.
not super friendly about any of it

I'll give John a heads up
probably will play out in 2 weeks and be fine

Wow ... just wow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

Wonder if it's a situation like a car dealership my sis-in-law used to work for ... two brothers actually owned it, but they transferred full ownership of the business back and forth between them every year, so the employees never gained enough seniority to earn vacation time, etc.

Just got my Westy back from the shop today - maybe I'll just drive the Westy and take a seat in Elliot's car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

I spoke with the host hotel manager today. Yes, the place is being sold. Yes, there will be construction going on when we are there. Our existing reservations should not be a problem. (Escrow for the sale is still 2+ weeks away.) The new owners will have more details to follow. Some of the on-line booking sites will accept a new reservations. Some will not. He said they currently show 14 reservations for our group. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_wirdgut.gif)

No worries. If it all turns to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) and goes to Hell in a Hand Basket, everyone is invited to "camp out" in my backyard. Sprinklers come on @0630. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Fantastic john! Reservation made. Lunch at LULU. http://lulupalmsprings.com/ My favorite vegan restaurant (Palm Greens Café) is just north of the hotel.
Cheers, Elliot

That's the spirit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) Lulu it is for lunch.

We also still need to select a location for the Awards Dinner. Any suggestions? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

There has been a slight change. We will not be having lunch at Lulu.
Lunch will be at Peaks Restaurant or Pines Café. (top of the tram ride) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

The Awards Banquet will be at Lulu. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
We will have the balcony as our own private space.

Yes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) No.

First we are driving around the Mountains. Then we are driving up the mountain and over. Then we will drive down the other side. After that we ride the tram back up the mountain again and have lunch. Finally we ride back down to where we parked our cars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (just follow and try to keep up)

On that note John; do you need any help from us locals on which roads or routes for this event? We drive a lot of these on a fairly regular basis and know the good ones. Aw Hell, they're all good in that area. Any road you pick will be fun.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I was thinking this would be a nice 100 mile loop . . . . .
Hwy 111 out of town towards Palm Desert. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif)
Take the Pines to Palms Hwy. 74. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
Stop at Lake Hemet for a photo opp. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/coolpics.gif)
Turn on to 243, the Banning Idyllwild Panoramic Hwy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
a short pull on Interstate 10 from Banning. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge24.gif)
and back to Palm Springs on Hwy 111, Palm Canyon Drive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aaron.gif)
Tramway Road will take us to our lunch stop. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)
