The track day found the weaknesses in several trannies it seems. The funky noise when I pulled off the track after lunch was indeed a mid plate bearing. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) It didn't spin in the case again until I left Sean & Susie, Slits and Toast at the junction with I 15. Once I got up to trafffic speed (80 ish) it howled all the way home.

So I have reinvigorated the "curse of Mueller"... back up on da jack stands!!! 901s really weren't made to take much power on the original innards. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) oh well....needed an LSD anyway.

I wish you better luck with your Wevo conversion than I've had with mine!

I don't know if you are talking about the folks at Wevo, but if you are, this is my experience:

I bought my Wevo set up used and wasn't expecting much help when I called for technical support. What I got instead was awesome support. Tracey and Hayden are super responsive to their customers. I received free parts and technical support. They totally stand behind their products. I think you will be very happy in the long run.

He wont have any issues with the transmission. It will shift just like it was designed too.

I was also told that the deal included the shift coupler and shift rod and somehow they didn't make into the box either.

I will make and send a shift rod out along with a coupler. I need to know what year tub I'm working with and what shift rod you will use to come out of the firewall. If you dont respond in a PM or email to me.. I'll assume you dont want it.

Oddly enough... I didnt have any trani problems...

Maybe because I drive (the trani) easyer than my dad...

I'll hit the engine hard... but I will not in any case shock load the trani.

Hope you guys get everything fixed... I know I will be in your same boat soon....

(especially when I put my new cv's in and start doing some burnouts.....

914 RS,
A little side-track, how did those mufflers treat you on the trip? Do they quite the car down enough for highway use?

They were surprisingly quiet at highway speeds. No problem.

I see the tailsection looks all new, as does the mid section - was that part of the Wevo kit (mid section), or same as before?

rs,

While your box was apart did you have the fitment of main/pinion shaft races in the cases checked? Just got my 915 apart and all 4 races can be turned by hand in the case sections. I'm interested in Wevos machined-in bearing bridles. Just wondering if this might make the box noisey due to realignment. Know of anyone who has had this done?

Externally, the only thing that's new is the tail cone. Internally, many shifter parts were changed.

The rest of the tranny is essentially new.

I just wish I had the cash right now to buy the Vellios parts from you. I like mine and will use it again if I can find the parts when the time comes.

The parts are yours on installment.

If you would like to have them, I will send them and you can pay me as your budget allows.

I said this poorly.

The tranny was freshly rebuilt when the Vellios kit was installed. The internals are new.

Externally, only the tail cone is a visable difference.

Now I need some mounting advice from the pros. The rear housing on the WEVO conversion is too far aft for the mounting holes to line up. The literature that came with the kit warns about preloading the 'ears', which suggests to me that this is a common problem.

It would have been really nice if my $2000 kit would just bolt up, but such is not the case.

For those who have done it, how did you solve this problem?

WEVO, feel free to chime in here.

Then they should have been included with the kit.

again dont quote me on it. but i belive that is part of the sales pitch on the tranny mounts. that they can adjust any misalignment out.

can you oval your tranny mount holes?
