Progress on my 2.2T build for my 914 has slowed a bit due to funding. So I was able to take that effort and begin a project that I've wanted to do for months.
I'm 3D modeling the whole engine. Model work is done using Creo, the images rendered using Keyshot. Started on a few of the easier parts, well maybe not the easiest, but together they make up a large chunk of the engine and a big push of progress at the beginning helps the project move along. I'm modeling these from actual parts, on my dining room table. Which is another reason I started with these particular parts, they're already cleaned. Anyway, here's the first shot. More progress later in the week because I'll have a bit of time, but this is an open ended project. It gets work when I can. More on the carbs, been really cool to get up close and personal with all of the stuff that you usually just clean and assemble.
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/c1.staticflickr.com-19709-1512408802.1.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/c1.staticflickr.com-19709-1512408802.2.jpg) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/c1.staticflickr.com-19709-1512408802.3.jpg) I don't have modeled screw threads on most of the stuff that uses threads, mostly because it takes so much more time to create/export/render. Once the model is done I'll be going back and adding the threads as a bump map on the surfaces that need it. For now you get smooth cylinders going into smooth cylinders. I realize that by now a lot of the purists don't even look at this thread anymore so they don't get to see the stuff I do for the engine. So for the rest of you, enjoy!! |
