Well there is WCR RRC or R66 ..?

Trying for something like that. Problem is 3 jobs and island life. We're taking some steps to get back on the mainland and even possibly retire = more time for my toys. Last 2-3 years have been work, work, work. Hardly putting any miles on cars and even fewer hours on the airplane.

Time for a life change. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Hard to believe it's been three years since we originally picked up the 914 and drove 900+ miles home. Very glad I was able to find another 914, let alone a six conversion in a color I really wanted.

Looks like a real sleeper (IMG:style_emoticons/default/margie_914.jpg)

One of the rear sway bar bushings blew out (old and cracked). I could hear the "clunk, clunk" while driving.

Bought new bushings and rear sway bar tab kit. I knew the PO simply drilled holes through the trunk floor and long bolts (yuck).

Honestly, little embarrassed I didn't do this BEFORE painting the 914.

The 75-76' later bumper 914's use a slightly different kit. The plate with Nuts welded on is flat (no step needed).

I don't know if I needed the extra metal square thingies as this is boxed for the bumper shocks? Covered up two of the holes anyway.

What was removed and would be installed:

Shot of the trunk, had left over paint I used to touch it up. Turned out nice.

Again, don't know if I needed these extra metal supports on a later 914, figured it couldn't hurt.

No more "clunk, clunk" while driving!

Some small winter projects, the backpad I recovered is coming unglued. No doubt due to my lack of knowing what I was doing. There's a local shop I'm dropping this off at to have sorted out.

Seatbelts off to Seat Belt Planet. Seen a number of threads here that say good things about them. Also going to get some new stickers for the release buttons and hopefully plastic washers for the anchor bolts.

Those two projects where spurred by my "Quest for Quiet" thread. I pulled the rear window and having another made using laminated safety glass. Did that on a 914 many years ago and noted it helped to quiet down the interior. But I'll post updates regarding that on that thread:

So Dan, you buy a six conversion because you really love the sound, and then you take multiple steps: exhaust, rear window, etc., etc., to quiet it down? Sounds to me like you're just getting old. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

Adding a third brake light. Found a 1990's aftermarket on Evil-Bay. I like this because it will sort of be period correct for a 70's car.

Mounted on the targa pad which is an early 914Rubber version. Didn't mind drilling a couple of holes in it.

It looks like it's mounted down a bit, but when you look at it standing up, the angle which you see it doesn't look like it's hanging down. Thinking taller SUV's will hopefully see this.

I feel like if you don't have the three lights, most people don't register you are applying brakes.

Not a very good picture, it looks nicer in person.

All of our cars are sooooo lowwww they really need a 3rd brake light. The higher you can mount it the better. Hopefully you install an LED.
