Isn’t that the way 928’s work? Fix one thing, another breaks. Not my experience unless the car was severely neglected. These are extremely well built, albeit slightly complicated, cars. I am hopeful.. I am not in a huge hurry to get rid of it. I want to fix everything and make it really nice and by then the market will be where I need it to be to make it all worth while. I have a great baseline. Replaced the following to make sure all was good FOE harness Fuel injectors Fuel injection harness Water pump Porken tensioner Radiator Timing belt Knock sensors All vacuum lines Temp 1 sensor Temp 2 sensor MAF Both ECUS tested Flappy rebuilt Throttle cables Bowden cables Hall sensor TPS Fuel lines Dampers FPR Radiator fan switch Front chassis harness. There is not much left that isn't new. |

Someone's got to hassle Ben - LOL My Dad's was an XJ12 coupe. Beautiful car when it ran but he had to own a second car because running was rare. He was a doctor and spent the money but it just never liked him enough to behave. |

Made progress. I am finding that owning multiple Porsches makes me anxious because there is always something to do. The 928 runs rreally well now. Needs the following to be completed.
Windshield Driver bolster repaired Passenger window switch Trans removal and reseal Probably rebuild torque tube as well Final buff and it will be done. I am on the fence though as all this inflation has me anxious as well.might sell it to the next person looking for a much smaller project than what I started with. We will see. I just learned multiple cars can be overwhelming |

I now have this for sale. I have tons of documents. Engine was overhauled at 153000 miles which was done in 04 from what I see. The car has 156000 miles on it. It runs but needs the trans resealed.
Asking 18,500 for it. |

Enjoy the project, S4 is best buy in my view. like you pick up one that had had small engine fire but, and plenty of missed maintenance - cheep, but it has turned out great and i'm looking forward to have to opposite ends of the porsche family to drive. wow that's the same car?? that's a lot of work. Wow!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) |

I just learned multiple cars can be overwhelming Oh, yea i know exactly how you feel. I don't have a car newer than 2007, and all but one are no less than 175k miles, so this year now i feel like i am running a auto repair business, i don't mind one or 2 projects but its been non-stop. I am still helping take care of and manage the major maintenance of my 2 oldest daughters cars too, and my wife's Navigator has 285,000 miles(2007) and she refuses to get rid of it. I would love to have a shark, but i just cant have another project right now. for the first time ever i actually had the thought of selling the 914 and getting a less than 5y.o. Cayman( or atleast 2010 or newer). only way i keep it and 3 other 15-20 year old vehicles is if my wife agrees to getting a lift!! GLWTS!!!! |

So I spent more time and money to complete this project. Almost all done. I posted it for sale. Fixed a few things today and ordering a few more new parts. Once this is gone it’s back onto the 914 and complete the fuel injection. Priced at 18,500 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/8...mibextid=6ojiHh

My old mechanic Tony from Czechoslovakia would always smile when I'd bring my 914 in for service. He'd frown whenever a 928 came into his shop & refuse to work on it if it needed anything major. He'd say: "Those 928s are way to complicated to be reliable." Go figure. Even getting into the dashboard was a major PITA. I suppose the car was ahead of its time. So how come 914s are now going for more then 928s (generally speaking)?
