Finally, some progress to report. After several delays and vacations, the car is almost ready for the first drive. Engine tune is complete, the 4-wheel alignment and corner balancing is done, shift linkage and clutch adjustments are finished.

I am hoping it's just a few small details remaining.

1. Finish up door panels with GT door pulls
2. Install shoulder harness mounts on rear firewall
3. Repair driver's seat slider so seat moves all the way back
4. Install rear and side view mirrors
5. Apply paint protection
6. Install and wire two pole oil pressure sensor to gauge idiot light
7. Eliminate 3rd outlet on GT style muffler
8. Drive the car make any needed adjustments to clutch, shifter or engine tune.
9. Insure and register the car

Tom

Congratulations on your beautiful 914-6 tribute (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)
Workmanship and color is outstanding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
I remember 2.5 years ago January 2023 when I saw it at the E-Coated body shop in Michigan.

Hi Tom

Good to hear from you. Yes, it has been a long and interesting journey. I am working on insurance and registration so that I will be all ready for some late autumn driving.

I saw it in the trailer when Neil dropped off my 67. Unfortunately, mine hasn’t moved forward very much.

It really hasn’t been on the road yet. During the start up and 20 minute break run, the engine sounded great at 2000 RPM. But it’s yet to be revved and driven. Hopefully in the next several days.

Well the day has finally come almost 4 years to the day that I brought my 914 home for the first time. What a transformation.

First impression. Most important, My 71 year old body was able to get in and out of the cockpit with no problems. Very comfortable in the driver's seat with good visibility and pedal & shift accessibility. A little bit of a tight fit between my right leg and the 380 mm steering wheel. I am hoping a little tweaking of the seat tilt and positioning will cure that.

The drive home was across downtown Hartford during rush hour. A bit of a challenge for my first drive in this brand-new car. The car handled really well, good power, not too noisy inside and great road feel.

The throttle tends to stick at first start up and the idle races to 2000-3000 RPM. This goes away after beginning to drive and the throttle behaves normally and idle fines. It seems to be in the PMO butterfly shafts. I'll see if things free up with more use.

Overall, I am very happy and look forward to some fun driving before the snow sets it,

Hey Tom
What a beautiful thing you've created.
All of your choices have resulted in an outstanding combination.
I love the color, the wheels...all of it.
Time to enjoy.

I saw the car post dip and e-coat. It’s amazing how much corrosion was hiding under the red paint.
