Did anyone ever post the VIN on this car so we can keep an eye out should it pop up for sale somewhere?

Hey everyone I guess I am out of here. My car was classified as a "total loss" so it is officially gone gone gone. I guess the good out of this is I was able to negotiate with the insurance carrier for the shop that lost it and ended up getting 9X my original purchase price, not bad. I am thinking of replacing her with a 993, have always loved the C2S and C4S anybody know of a nice low mileage example? Y'all teeners take care out there.

So sorry this happened. A terrible way to go out. Good luck
Any closing thoughts for the rest of us? Tips and tricks for insurance, the law, legal, or auto shops? |

Sorry to see you go Marv, but we know you wanted to sell it anyway. Hopefully we will see you again at the next PCA event. Regarding a 993, do a WTB on Pelican and Rennlist. I have seen some nice one's at Cars & Coffee in Tustin, but not for sale. I will ask around. I used to own a 96 C2 cabrilolet tiptronic. I sold it because i hated the four speed auto. Not enough gears for a heavy car. In hindsight i should of kept it and converted it to a six speed. Check out this page for info on maintenance and upgrades. https://p-car.com/ |

But I'm sure it will have the BaT tax (last minute price spike) before it's done. I should have grabbed a 993 C2S Tiptronic when they were $50k a couple years back, oh well. |

Just a sad way to go out, but at least you're staying with the Marque. A beautiful example you had and wished I'd have seen it in person. Good luck in your next journey! btw - Here's the only car I thought of when you mentioned 993, it has miles but sell-sorted and apparently a well known enthusiast. I've only met him through IG, not person. https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1322267 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Paul |

If you have agreed value insurance make sure you stay on top of the valuation $, the market for teeners is changing upwards quickly. Additionally if you have a high $ car make sure you can prove the value with receipts and or an appraisal. |

I would look at BaT (although it won't be cheap), but some beautiful low mileage 993's come online often.
Also check out the classifieds through PCA. |

Have you driven the new 911? I was surprised at how much the base 911 reminded me of the older cars, but without the old car worries. I love the 993 era cars, but at current pricing, I think I’ve ranked a current model over the 993.
Good luck with whatever path you choose to take! Please chime back to show us what you ended up with and ultimately why, I’d really like to hear your take. |

Really glad you were able to get to a reasonable settlement! This definitely woke up a bunch of us here as to beefing up our insurance and our garage/storage security.

So sad that this beautiful car was not located.
I love you choice of replacement- I had a '97 993 coupe and loved it. I would like to find a '98 993 2S coupe that has not been messed with. The 993, to me, represents the most beautiful body the 911 has ever had. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |

This one is nice and currently at 86K but suspect it sells closer to 125k. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-pors...-carrera-4s-80/ Most of the 993 non-turbo with 50K miles sell for roughly $125 - $150k, I suspect lower miles will go for much more. |

Sorry Marv but glad to hear you worked out the insurance thing. It was an amazing build that is well documented. One of the best outlaw 914-6's ever created. No one can take that away from you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) .

If you are looking for a great 914 type car, I strongly recommend a 981 Spyder or even an S. (depending on budget) What a fantastic car and when you get it up on a lift and remove all the hemp coverings, its like working on a new 914-6.
I love my spyder. |
