Yes we found and tested that pull. Can you imagine a few scenarios… Dead battery at night…wheel locks on car, tools in trunk. How about dead battery and a tow truck driver…who has no clue about the front trunk jumper. Sorry, but it’s just a dumb design. Long story short, what good is a "jumper pack" if you can't get it to the battery? I'm with you, return it. |

I've been around electricity and electronics enough, but not convinced that a 'jump pack' that weighs 4 pounds and fits in my pocket is going to start a car that normally needs a 400CCA battery.
Anyway, get one of these with F2 terminals (same as all the push on connectors in the 914). Sealed lead acid so you can store it pretty much anyway you want. https://www.homedepot.com/p/MIGHTY-MAX-BATT...22495/323133872 Holds a charge for 6 months or more, put it on a regular batter charger to refresh. |

I will just echo what others have said. The device you have is intended to start a car with a battery at low charge. It has smarts to keep bad things from happening. It is like most storage trickle chargers, it will not provide a voltage if it does not see the proper load. So if battery is disconnected then "jumper post" in car can not be used with jumper pack to power the car as it does not see the required parameters. If you get a cheap dumb plug in battery charger that just outputs no matter what then it will work in the way you want.

Of course, why in the hell Porsche put the battery in location that is inaccessible when the battery is dead is a question all on its own...are car owners supposed to carry around a spare 12V power source hanging off their key chains...? SMDH...

These will fit in the palm of your hand and start a large truck with a dead battery. I’ve personally used it on the truck. It’s what I purchased for my daughter. Gets high reviews.

Sorry, there is no way in hell that unit will provide 1000amps unless you measure the time in milliseconds. The clamps themselves would melt after 2-3 seconds. |

Agree on the 1000A rating - marketing hype. Ratings are like cheap stereo ratings of old - optimistic and rated at peak. However, research how lithium ion batteries perform. They can be designed for peak energy or peak power. A single 18650 cell can deliver 30A in short repetitive bursts. Pouch cells can put out even more current due to large surface area of the anode and cathode. This ability to deliver very high power out of such a small package is what makes Lithium ion batteries dangerous if used improperly and/or short circuited. It is VERY EASY for these small jump packs to crank a completely dead vehicle (with or without vehicle battery) with a very small footprint and light weight. Used to use them a couple times a week. Way better than hauling around those old lead acid jump packs. |

Funny timing
I left the trailer hooked up which kills my cayenne battery. The “Schumacher jumper pack” I bought did nothing. When hooked up it beeped with an error. So I am returning it tomorrow. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Huh? So I’m looking on Amazon - 8% 1 and 2 star reviews and not just a couple of them Well that’s bull (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) Download user manual: JUMP STARTING A VEHICLE ENGINE NOTE: Use model number SA858 jump cable. IMPORTANT: Do not use the jump starter while charging its internal battery. IMPORTANT: Using the jump starter without a battery installed in the vehicle will damage the vehicle’s electrical system. NOTE: The internal battery must have a charge if at least 40% to jump start a vehicle. NOTE: Cold weather may affect the performance of the jump starter’s lithium battery. If you hear only a click and the engine does not turn over, try the following: With the jump starter connected to the car battery and the green LED illuminated on the smart cable, turn on all lights and electrical accessories for one minute. This draws current from the jump starter and warms the battery. Now try to crank the engine. If it does not turn over, repeat the procedure. Extremely cold weather may require two or three battery warmings before the engine will start. I assume you’ve tried this I’ve used plenty of these little jump packs on vehicle batteries at are completely flat. Either the unit isn’t big enough - but it certainly is for a Cayenne or Schumacher is really missing the boat. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) Send that puppy back. |

It’s cute, but I’m returning it because it does nothing.
I will suck it up and get another big heavy one. Meanwhile I used my generator battery to deal with my immediate issue. I’m really amazed how useless this thing is. |
