Such a common repair and SO many on here have done it,do a search on here using keywords and continue learning more,it is a bit of a job and lots of pitfalls and IMO it is the most important structural rust repair in these cars if done right ,good luck, cheers

Here are some of my go-to and evening reading (I am sure I forgot some...). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

Once you begin looking into longitudinal work, might as well call it a full restoration because this is where it will lead you. You will probably discover a lot more... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Good luck with your project! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) And share your progress here! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It's not a quick project

I've been casually cruising 914world for about 1 3/4 years, surely hundreds of hours. It was a year before I could recognize a lot of what the dissection/autopsy pics were showing. There is a lot of stuff!

If you aren't familiar, most of it is archived under:
914World.com > The 914 Forums > Restoration and Build Threads

The longest one I've read is from 914 Guru, Bill K. Its like 330+ pages, with comments. IIRC, he had more bulkhead issues where I had more longitudinal issues, but the experiences, methods, tools, ideas, coatings and materials translate to other areas, so I read it all. Once it makes sense, I copy and paste stuff that I don't want to forget into a big text file.

I am also close to starting longs and floor. I picked up my parts at Restoration Design a few months ago. I am very lucky, as Brad Mayeur and his ace assistant Mike are only an hour away. Good luck!

Tom
