I am going to replace the brake pads on the batmobile. I called the local parts dealers just to check prices because I had 3/4 of a set of Mintex pads in my shop. A young lady answered the phone and said that she had only one set in stock and I could have them for US$40. I asked if they were metalics and she said "no,they were ceramic". My question to you Guys is. Can I resurface my rotors and pop these suckers on my front wheels??? I would leave the back wheels alone for a bit. I am still a DAV working on a limited buck. I lost all my mech knowledge when I stroked out a few years ago so I have to ask a lot of stupid questions. I would really like to upgrade to these ceramics If it is a logical thing to do. What do YOU think O vast supply of 914 knowledge??? I await your comments..... MSG L

if sold as a direct replacement, I see no reason not to run them....
as for resurfaceing the rotors, as long as you have enough material, of course they are pretty thin to begin with so you might be looking at new rotors... |

Brake pad info
above is link describing the differences between the pads....looks like the ceramics are quieter than the metallic and might be a better choice for a street vehicle |

It is my daily driver but I drive it hard. Every curve is an invitation. I usually do not put on more than ten to fifteen miles a day but they are very fun miles. I belong to the LIGHTER IS FASTER club and I am headed out to pick up the pads right now. Do you all think I got a fair price for them?? Thanks for the input I lurk a lot but now and then I come out of the shadows and ask questions. I rely on the expertise I find here. You guys are great, thanks, MSG L

i put ceramic pads on the Subie and have no complaints. they're quiet, easy to modulate, don't generate a lot of dust, and grip well. haven't experienced anything like fade, but it doesn't get driven in fade-inducing conditions... no regrets.

Anyone head or have experience with this stuff? Any good/bad? |

When you get the chance, please provide make and part # for the pads. Then give us your impressions as to how well they work. This sounds interesting.

A friend of mine used one of the "____ stuff" pads on his 944T track car, whichever is the most agrresive compound EBC makes
They were pretty tough on the rotors. I think he warped the rotors in a day |
