Jake,
I find George's statement that the 3.0 liter motor is the best conversion engine for the 914 interesting. Can you ask him to expand on this statement. Obviously context confounds. Is he speaking of a street car with a stockish 901?

I have ridden in a 3.6 conversion and the sensation of rocket ship could not be denied. This was very much a street car with all the creature comforts except AC.

What is it about the 3.0 that makes George think it is best? I am not challenging him I just want to know why. My 3.2 Carrera really wakes up just over 4k RPM. I wonder if that would be a detriment in a 914. I have never ridden or driven a 3.0 powered car so I am not familiar with the engines character.

3.0s make alot of power, and pretty reliable. Also, the bigger motors like the 3.6 need a whole different tranny set up, instead of the 901.

Buddy of mine has it (3.0) in his 914-6, and it is sensational. I think the riverside region pca pres has the 3.6 conversion, but he had to do alot more to his car to make it compatable.

I assume this is why george said that the 3.0 is probably the best overall 6 conversion (though i could be wrong)

From my recent reading, the 3.0 motors are darn near bulletproof. Replace the CIS with carbs and they really scream.

/still loving the 2.4 MFI though

From what I hear, the 3.2's do ok powerwise and they bolt right up to the 901. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hide.gif)

George,
Are you serious???

"Thanks for the question: We are currently overhauling the website and really have our hands full now. The 914 catalog mailing was fabulously successful (I hesitated printing and mailing until I talked to a mentor of mine Mike Yeager at Mid America, who pounded it into me that car people are all not just exclusively on the internet)"

I think "fit" is the issue with the 3.2
A 3.0 is a cleaner fit. Plus it does not put as much wear on the 901.

BTW, You look Marvelous...........

I want you to ask:
1. What compelled him to start a business for the bastard Porsche to begin with? Did he buy the contents of the warehouse in Germany?
2. Are 914 customers different than the other parts purchaser?
3. This may hurt, but is AA's "reputation" accurate? In other words, is it part of the business plan to be, um, "assured and assertive"? It works for a lot of corporate America.
