Ok there's a extensive Seinfeld thread going right now, so I thought I'd start one about celebrity 914 owners. This is only KNOWN celebrities who are KNOWN to own or have owned a 914. Feel free to chime in, but no speculation here, just the facts ma'am, just the facts.
Wouldn't it be cool to track some of these people down, and have thier 914 stories added to my yet to be started, (yet to be totally committed to writing) 914 book???
The few that I know about:
Ann B. Davis from The Brady Bunch
Leif Garrett 70's teen idol
Brian Redmond famous Porsche racer
Peter Gregg ditto above (x2 the racer part)

Newman's crash took place at the first Rennsport Reunion at Lime Rock. It happened right in front of my wife and I on the last lap of his race. A white 911 in front of him applied the brakes, he didn't and smacked him good.
Tore off the 911's engine cover.
I may have some pics at home if anyone would be interested.

Probably not as much of a celebrity to most of you, but Famous Disk Jockey here in the DFW area who went by the name of RedBeard used to own a Yellow 76 2.0. I recently met the current owner of that car, and he has the paperwork to prove it.

If the 911 braked unexpectedly on a straight I'd have to ask what was HE thinking? Didn't Newman also ball up a car at Monterey not too long ago?

Actually, it was a section of straight track between turns 3 and 4. I have no idea why the 911 applied his brakes.
From my view point, the 911 driver caused the crash.
Newman started in 4th position and worked his way to 2nd when this happened on the last lap.
Mr. Newman isn't just a famous actor who stumbles around a race track. He won the national championship in his class a number of years back. He's older now, but was the real deal as a race driver.

I saw that car 6 months later at the Moroso HSR event and it was put back together. It looked perfect. I asked Bob Snodgrass (owner of Brumos Porsche) if that was the Newman car and he said yeah. We rebuilt it just to show everyone that it could be done. If I'm not mistaken that was a 4 cyl. car.

I was at an endurance race a few years ago at Sebring and Paul Newman was co-driving a car with Scott Sharp and Tommy Kendall and Newman's lap times were only a second or 2 slower than his co-drivers. And Paul was in his 70's!!

Grace (Jefferson Airplane) Slick's husband (Gerry I think) had an M471 car (actually one of those on the 'official' GT list), that has now sat for 30 years in the Bay Area and is in pristine condition (but with no engine).

Hurley Haywood also drives a Brumos (orange ) M471, don't think he owns it though.
Saw him take the checkered flag by a fender from a 911 (Jurgen Barth ?) at the 50th anniv for Porsche at laguna in '98. Hurley is one of the greatest all time Porsche drivers...and a real gearhead to talk to !
