It's been a long few weeks.
You can see the barn now has snow up to the edge of the roof...I actually fell off today and basically got up and walked back onto the roof....

Hard to see here, it's dark....way to busy to take pictures lately.
Here you can see the amount of snow that magically landed on the roof.
It's now over 4 feet deep. we got about half of the roof cleaned, both sides.

Here's my backyard, I had to snowblow a path to my ladder to shovel off the flat part of my roof... you can just see the corner of my utility trailer, the sides of which are about 5 feet off the ground...
Click to view attachmentHere I am, on top off 4 feet of hardpacked snow, up to my knees in fresh snow from last night, trying to get the snow off the angled part of my roof to get rid of the ice dam that just won't go away

Panty hose work best.

Holy fek that's alot of snow... I'm almost jealous! Don't really envy you poor folks digging out all the time tho. I've done it a few times here including falling off the roof into 9ft of powder that I shoveled off but our pow is around 7% water content, not the heavier stuff you tend to get back east. The extra humidity there makes it extra cold too... Yuck

Louisville.
We've escaped everything till now. About a foot total today, then minus 8 in a few days. That's shut down mode for us too.
Did we piss off the Canadians or something? Are they retaliating for the War of 1812? Mark? Mike? Dave? We're really sorry.

Sorry no snow in Southern Maryland - called for an inch Saturday night wich didn't happen. Out and about early Sunday morning. That's not snow on the road that is salt! Typical around here. They'll start salting days in advance of storms that never materialize. Not taking the teener out on that...

Hi Guys, got up this morning, grouchy, grumpy with -10 degree in Plymouth & -20 degree in Petoskey, MI.
Lots of snow and bitter cold:stir:
Bitch list.
Starbucks coffee bitter
Jerk on the forum complaining about our 914 suppliers
Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog saying 6-more weeks of winter
Worry about our East Coast, Taxachusetts, 914-buddy's snow on the roof
Wife telling me we need to move to Florida
Newspaper article about hot CA weather & Wet MI.
And then
a wonderful moment appears out my office window.
Dumb ass pair of Robbins by my window, here early in MI along with a few more spring/summer birds on my feeder this morning???
Maybe spring will be early so I can drive the 914
I am feeling better

Look at the optional ski racks on Jeff Bowlsby's site.
Search for 914-GT or 914/6 GT on google....you will find it.
Should give you some good ideas how you might build something simple and removable for the board.
I have a one piece ski rack for two sets of skis....kinda a cool accessory.

I have a very clever friend who can fabricate those types of racks. I thought about asking him to make me some, and I would get them plated. I live about 5 minutes from Trestles, so it's not a long road trip with the surfboard on top deal for me….

Had 8-10" last night, pretty much our annual snowfall in one shot. Off to a late start but anther ten or twelve snows like this and we'll be in competition with the New England gang. BTW life has come to a halt here, wimps!

Finally gave up trying to clear my side driveway.
It is buried till the snow melts. The Town forgot to plow
the last 200' of the street it comes out on and now the snow
compacted and is like cement. I had to give up about 1/3
of the parking area in front of the garage to put snow too.
Yesterday my wife left for work at 5:30 am and got stuck in
the street 3 houses away.I had to take my snow blower and clear
the street to get the car back to my yard.
Today, a Reverse 911 call saying the "State of the Art" Vacuum Sewer System
was failing and not to use water or flush toilets. Funny, but the Sewer
System wasn't designed to be put somewhere that freezes.
Also, the Contractors that installed it forgot to use stainless steel hardware
when they installed it and many of the connectors are rusting and failing.
Of course all the decision makers are long gone and the Installers have gone
out of business.
At least 80 fire hydrants are going to have to be pulled up and reconnected with stainless fittings.
Yesterday the only road out here was reduced to one way at a time for 2 miles because they couldn't keep 2 lanes open with all the wind blown drifts covering the road.
Can't wait for spring

Zero visibility on the turnpike. Snow was drifting so hard
they couldn't keep the road open.. As soon as the wind

This is almost too funny yet it also is a "I give up" moment.
We spend a lot of time and money trying to keep the dogs from leaving the yard with mucho fencing.
With the snow banks, the ridgeback (houdini) has found a new way to get around all the fencing.....just up and over the barn..

Welcome to the Northeast. Apparently a lot of people from Massachusetts didn't realize that it actually does snow. Watching this thread is like watching the lady in the moo-moo saying how the tornado just tore through the trailer park, or those that live next to the ocean and then complain about hurricanes that destroy their mull million dollar homes that they will rebuild One word, if your unhappy then move. There is hardly any snow in Hawaii. Or even better lot's of nice land in the middle east, it does snow there though so beware. Every year I remove ridiculous amounts of snow from my driveway, In Northern New York. I was born and raised in New England and even I know that in the winter liquid sunshine isn't rain its snow. Please carry on now.

When I tell people I live in Cincinnati, their first response is often that it must be boring here. Yes, it is. In the climactic sense, in the political sense, and even in the economic sense, not a lot happens. We do have some banner driving roads, though.

Dont feel bad, every time I tell people I live in New York its automatically assumed I must be near the city. Sadly I can make it to Mital's house in North Jersey faster then I can get to the city. I have incredible roads and scenery in which to drive in spring, summer, and fall unless they drop salt then all bets are off and she gets parked.

That's really pretty.
Long ago I worked for a group that had its yearly budget/planning meetings in Minnesota. Minnesota in February, at the group's largest company. We were the smaller company but we were better and beat the big company's financials. No, not just beat, we
thrashed them, so there was some natural resentment of us southerners. Coming from Houston there's no way I could NOT ask about the extreme weather, and their answer was "Yeah, but it keeps the riff-raff out."
I'll never forget that, "Keeps the rif-raff out." They'd be looking straight at me and saying that with a sneer, so the message was clear. But at the same time I thinking that a place with snow piled up to the rooftops, a place that never got as warm as my freezer, that snow and cold had to be one of God's little intelligence tests, and they weren't doing all that well on it. Of course right after that I went back to where there were hurricanes, then moved to California for the earthquakes, so I can't be too smug. But damn, gentlemen, that's cold. Speaking as someone from the lower latitudes I'd say it's a real good thing that extreme cold kills all the mosquitoes up there or your life would be really rough.
