clap.gif clap.gif I want to thank Aaron Cox for taking three hours out of the middle of his day to look at a V8 car with me.

Aaron has never met me before, but I knew he lived nearby (more or less) the teener. So I sent him a PM asking if he would like to look at the car with me.

He was great, on time, super helpful and tons of knowledge.

I owe you Aaron!
redshift
James, did he try to touch you? It's ok, you can tell us. laugh.gif

I want to thank Aaron for talking me down, I was about to jump..

Thanks Aaron, again.

Actually, when I bought him lunch for his troubles, he couldn't stop looking at every girl that drove by or walked in.

I read all the rumors about him, but I am not buying it.

The garage door was open when I got there. I was really happy at 80 feet, accepting at 30 and depressed at 10. The car has all the right parts just poorly executed. The current owner did not build the car, but the PO did not seem to put any time in to putting it together.

I took pictures, but will have to figure out how to post them. I know what a rookie. headbang.gif Then I will get them on.

In short:

Fiberglass flares- smile.gif - but not attached well and fiber tape lines sad.gif
Rear ended- unsure.gif - Repaired but wrinkled in the trunk dry.gif
New paint - smile.gif -no prep on the panels and overspray blink.gif
2 piece cup wheels - biggrin.gif - major road rash on one, mild on the other mad.gif
Seems to cool well- smile.gif - but single 16" fan and foam pushed in on the sides to control flow ohmy.gif
V8 - wub.gif no initial issues, started well, electric choke was right on, great idle. Did not dig any deeper
911 A front brakes wub.gif no issues
Weltmeister front bar with new bushings in the trunk biggrin.gif
Carbon fiber dash overlay - smile.gif - poorly installed
Emergency brake works- smile.gif
Tail shifter wacko.gif
5 lug - wub.gif - adapter brackets in front. sad.gif

It goes on and on, little things to like the windshield trim was handbrushed black and the door handles were monochromed wit hout any prep and are chipping.

The car drove well, set really firm, Aaron felt it was more firm than his and his is set up for AX.

In my opinion, you would buy this car change the radiator out immediately and driver restoration project. Aaron, being 6' something would remove the steering wheel extension too.

Aaron- Chime in and I will work on posting pics.
Aaron Cox
flares.... looked good from 20 feet. not bonded on great. looked closer...and it got uglyt underneath.... you can see the seam at the body.
Cooling.... home made, 1 16" fan with FOAM sheets to secure airflow
rear ended.... poor fix... we were like "why does the trunk over hang extra.....
bad paint
17" 2 piece cup wheels.... with 5 to 5 adapters unsure.gif
stock tie rods....
welt sway.... looked new....
welt poly bushings F/R in the trunk.... uninstalled....
911 a calipers......

way over sprung upfront...guessing 23mm t bars ohmy.gif

and a ghetto harness bar....

Unless thats padding foam then I dont like the foam..

Asside from that it looks like a good car!

5 to 5 lug adapters... You mean spacers?? Bolt on spacers aaron.. there not evil... lol

Then all the stuff you mentioned.. Its probably worth more than 5k... but definately not 12k.

Anyways. To answer your question..

Heres the breakdown for an engine conversion.

What you HAVE to have.

Engine (Pick and pull, clean it up and run it for 500. Re build it and get it running perfect for 1k)
Trani Adapter (150 used)
Radiator (pick and pull 50 bucks with fan)
Clutch/flywheel/pp assembly (500, a must for a good driver)
IF you removed the firewall and put a new one that would allow for the stock waterpump and stuff, then you could avoid getting a RH waterpump, and other stuff for the belts. Save 500+ spend 100.
Spend 100 for radiaor tubing (no way around this one..)
Spend 300 for exhaust (necessity biggrin.gif )
100 on sheet metal, bolts and ext for the radiator shrowding.
Spend 100 for a front engine mount.
50 for trani mounts
and do your own shift linkage (easy)

Total...
2k with non rebuilt engine. 2500 with rebuilt engine.
Then factor in selling your engine for 1k to 1.5k

You do the math!!

It CAN be done less.. you wouldnt want to drive it though.
Aaron Cox
hmm i hear the RH rad and RH h20 pump are the only way to fly.....

too much fun.....
Andyrew
Thats what they say...

Have you heard me complain about my temps yet??
HMM???

Its all about airflow, and the right amount of water...

skline
Well, I hate to correct you but that is a Renegade radiator, that is their old style before they went with the style they have now. I wouldnt be surprised if the whole conversion is an old Renegade. The headers look like it too. Did you look at the adapter? I could look at it and tell but I had work today. It doesnt look all that bad but I have to agree that it is not worth 12k if the body is like you say. I do like those Boxster wheels on there though. Too bad they dont know how to judge distance to a curb.
teenrookie
The owner did say he thought it was a Renegade kit. It just didn't look like what I saw on their website.

Cars always look better in a picture than in person.
