Hi,
I have bought a 914/6 as a project car - matching numbers and tangerine. It is a long term project and I am aiming to bring my /6 back to the original condition as it left the factory 1970 without any performance upgrades or so.
I started early to hunt for NOS parts and thought to start sharing some photos of these parts instead of posting photos of metal work.

I'm really impressed with your efforts and results. You have some great finds, especially the muffler. Chasing down NOS six parts can become an obsession. I've been doing the same for about 25 years!
That is very cool. I was recently at a members house where we looked at all of his Nos 914-6 parts in very well organized shelving units.. It was unbelievably cool to see all the rare parts even had an NOS Gt roof

My /6 is a 1970 and when I bought it the roof did not have a carpet. I thought it has been removed in the past.
I have checked the parts manual and got the impression that there should be a roof carpet for a /6 and also got this info from another /6 owner. So am I wrong in this point?

Early 6's did not have headliner in the roof, as far as I know.
My car didn't when I bought it from the dealer in 73
and the PO didn't know which end of a screw driver to hold
so I doubt he removed it.

It's part of the fun tracking some of these parts down. I have found six parts in Germany at Porsche; swap meets can be a source. The old Ventura, CA Porsche meet used to be an unbelievable place to find NOS six parts, but it no longer exists.

Up to about 2000 there was quite a stock pile of -6 parts at Porsche in Germany, then the parts started flying of the shelf when lots of conversions started.

I know it's a disease no doubt about it.
But what a great disease to have....if you must have one.
I know how tough some of these parts are to locate.
Just makes it that more important to try and restore as many of the parts on your car as possible.
Still nothing like seeing an NOS part come out of it's original wrapping.

Hunting and collecting these old NOS parts is great thing ... and if they come in original packing it's even better. It's part of a long restoration process and it shortens the time in a very good way.
I have started NOS hunting with the purchase of my /6 more than 3 years ago. I am searching wordwide, but non of the parts I bought directly out of a Porsche dealer shop. A lot of parts are leftovers from guys who had these cars years ago and they bought it as spares. But also private collectors, ebay, restoration shops etc. are good sources.
BTW - I am trying to find a NOS targa roof seal - the early version for sure
Maybe someone can help here?

At the end it would be great to hear how much you invested over all!
Most of NOS-parts are pricey and you pay a lot more for the "original" old package.
However, keep on collecting.

Headliner, are you sure the top was not replaced by someone else? Especially if the owner didn't know how to use a screw driver.

While it is possible the roof had been changed out very early in it's life,
I bought the car from the dealership that sold it new and took it back in trade
when the warranty was about to expire. So the roof would have to have been
replaced in less than 24,000 miles or 2 years. Anything is possible though

Just found a SIGLA tinted windshield "Made in West Germany". Never used before and very, very difficult to get.

Drove my brand new 1970 914-6 away from the dealership with no carpeted headliner.
1970 /4 No headliner when new.
My 70 -6 had no headliner. Also, the early window seals did not have the extra lip that the later ones did.

Fair enough reply ,seems the OP has some stuff covered but not what I would say are essential items ,IMO they have dryed up now and may be out there but @ mental prices,we need to remember these cars were never mass produced so parts are like rocking horse poo.
Power to anyone that has the $$$ to do this.
To hunt for a NOS parts is fun, but even better so see them all going in my /6 project ... except the targa roof carpet ... this will stay away as I have learned

Cool to see NOS parts installed with the label still attached. Not meaning to rain on your parade, but if the car just rolled off the assembly line there would be no labels on the parts. If you were to see a car only a few years old and it had parts with labels on it you would think it had been wrecked.

I think this is the "correct" one installed by dealers across the USA, since (as far as I know) they did not come from the factory installed in the cars.
