Okay. Let me check with the family planner... :-)

I'll see if there's a solid day this weekend. Stay tuned.

Okay, I tried the local list, and it seems to be down.

What: Try to get Josh'2 914 off jackstands for the season.

Why: 'cause it's been too damn long, that's why!

Where: My House in Lyons (15 min North of Boulder, 10 min West of Longmont)

When: When else? Garage opens at 9:14 on Sunday...

Any and all help would be greatluy appreciated, Pizza and barley pops will be avaialble.

bump...

dang Josh I can't make it either.
I'm doing the:
"one last desperate attempt to get brant's 914 off of jackstands weekend"

crud, I'm sorry about that.
its my last shot before lajunta too.
but I really really really want you to be at lajunta too, so I will try to support you by bumping this thread and encouraging other teeners to help you out.

Well, I made a valiant effort, but it was one of those two steps forward, one step backwards days...

Got a lot done on the car, but not enough to get the engine into the car. The kicker was discovering the my rear window was hanging on, quite literally, by a thread. So, it's time to replace the window seal. At this point, the chances of the car being ready for La Junta are slim and none, and slim just hopped a plane to Texas...

Sorry all, but I gotta call "no joy" on the track day. sad.gif

Have a good one folks!!

TROJANMAN
there's always next weekend..............idea.gif
jhadler
I was actually refering to the weekend of the 20th. With the car still lacking a drivetrain, and needing a rear window replacement, and my time being fairly limited for wrenching these days, it's not gonna happen soon enough to be track ready.

Josh

I could spare a day Saturday or Sunday to help get the car going. I did the back window on mine last summer. I might even have enough left over to do yours.

Ron
jhadler
Saturday is the day. Sunday is Mother's day.

Ron, do you think you have enough tape for the window? I was gonna get some for the job anyway.

I'll let you know about Saturday as the week progresses...

-Josh2

Josh

Looks like I only have enough tape to do one long side and the 2 short ends. But not all the way around. I got my tape from Elite Auto Glass in Boulder.

Saturday will work for me.

Several members of the Colorado Contingent left this afternoon for the PCA DE event in La Junta, CO.

Wish them luck...

Hope they have a great time!

I made it as far as Elizabeth. The car was vapor locking so I decided I'd rather be stuck between there and home than between there and Lamar.

We'll be a lot closer to Seattle than Denver around July 7-9 biggrin.gif! Mother's Day was most excellent - Mike kinda yelled at someone for me and everything wub.gif my kids made me mushy gifts that made me misty, AND Kevin gave me a bunch of beer. What more could a girl want? givemebeer.gif

Sorry I hijacked this thread... looking forward to photos from Track Day!!! driving.gif

brant
finally a free second to play today...
here are a few of those pictures.

first one is extremely fuzzy... but I decided to post it anyways because you can see the carnival nicely... (it was dust and the light was only marginal for outdoor pictures)
brant
I'm supposed to say that we special ordered the carnival for the event...

one of the colorado members in particular was having a REAL good time at the carnival:

This car is amazing.
its a colorado springs car
an original -6 that is seriously well restored.

it is very close to stock and no holes were drilled and no permanent changes were made what so ever...

it also is a 3.6L

brant
brant
The fenders are NOT pulled... NOT even rolled.
and yes those are 225/16 tires:

The owner of the above yellow car also is a club racer.

So we had 17 or 18 914's present... (the number wasn't fully clear)
Here is a car from colorado springs:
East coaster
Brant.........On the yellow 3.6 car, is that the DME bolted to the front of the battery tray?? Do you have any more info on the car/owner??
brant
A really good guy from New Mexico brought us a 2.0/6E conversion...
pretty dang quick.

Gary Smith is the mechanic behind the car and a All around GREAT guy.
he flat towed the car with the camper:

I didn't notice.
I wouldn't be surprised, just because they built the car without modifying a single thing to the original chassis... (they may not have drilled a hole for the wire harness and thus kept it in the bay?)

Owner/builders: Jim and James Wolcott.
Really... really.. really nice guys.
A father/son effort.
have known them for years.
I'll send them this thread so they can answer your questions directly!

(I was offered a ride in this car and will be kicking myself for years that I didn't just drop everything and hop in... Instead got busy and missed the oportunity)

brant
brant
here is something interesting...
owner is a young guy.. but an ambitious one too.
its a 1.8 L-jet
brant
and the same black L-jet from the rear...

its a saab 9-3 turbo:
brant
