The credit card companies have a stupid way when dealing with fraud. They just write it off most of the time. I once handle a house which was vacant for years. I discovered someone was applying and getting approval on credit cards from that house. They even called the local phone company to install phone service. The phone was actually never installed. They get voicemail on it for the banks to call on. Then they open a bank account. Then the credit card application follows. Anyway, I don't want to hijack the badge thread so I'll cut out some of the details. At the end of a one month period, I was able to collect checks in the outdoor ural style mailbox for 17 different names. Cops said they can't do anything w/o a complaint from the injured party. I called the credit card companies --the the injured party. Their response is it cost them more to pursue the fraudsters so they just write it off and let it go.
