Help me find my one true love. My wandering steering column wants to finally settle down!
I'm on my fourth! This is my last and best - OMP.

If you track at all, you gotta go with suede. With suede gloves, no slip.
Of your choices, last is best.

I like the first picture (I believe it is a stock Porsche wheel) for two reasons. First, it appears to be held on by the steering column and nut assembly. It does not have the screws that appear on the other two; I am very much against screws holding a steering wheel on to the hub since it appears the screws could work loose thus dangerous. Second, it looks from the pictures that the gauges could be read easier than the other two.
I had a 1964 Corvette which had screw type attachment of the steering wheel to the hub. These would work loose and I would have to tighten them while driving down the road. Locktite, you say?? This is before the days of the good "lockers" and would always break down from the vibration, etc.

I think stock is better. Mittelmotor has a set of smaller wheels (360mm) that looks stock.

As said before:
Suede covering in your choice of wheel.
With suede or smooth leather gloves... PERIOD.
Cause when my hands are sweaty on a hot day.
And I am driving anything over 7/10ths.
It is the ONLY way I know of to mitigate the risk of losing wheel control.
Safe is more important than cosmetics. IMHO.....................

I like the Porsche 4 spoke. My stock wheel is too large and makes getting in /out difficult by hitting my knees. Four spoke has nice 'feel' too

Good grip plus flat bottom make for great knee room...

I agree with the stock wheel. I like to see my gauges. However, if I track or AX it, I can see putting the Momo back on.
Click to view attachmentThe horn button is from a 912. I just put a new leather piece on it, so it looks better than in this pic.

Mark,
What did you do with the "old" leather center piece? It looks as if your foam pad compressed/collapsed, but the leather appears to be restorable.
Here's a similar view to yours. . . .from my perspective. . . .
Thanks,

I just covered the old piece. no glue or anything, the new one is held on by the ring.

The Fitti E3 has been my favorite all-around wheel for many years. I like the Momo Monte Carlo as well as the Prototipo too, but the deep dish of the Prototipo is "too much" for me in the 914, at least with the removable hub I use. I have a new silver-spoked Prototipo in storage for some (hopeful) future project like an early 911 or F-car...

any picture of the hub? i've thought about getting a removable hub also.
does the horn still work ? is the hub "keyed" to self center when it locks in place?

Of those three, I like the prototipo.
I have a MonteCarlo in the 930 (I like that one as it is small)
In my 914, I have a Veloce. I like it in the 914.
I don't believe my wheels are currently available, but I like them anyway.
I prefer smaller steering wheels.
I don't have any pictures.

I only cared about how it felt, not looks so much.

That's funny,
I just ordered a new Momo Prototipo & adapter and Porshe center cap, and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Looking at the pictures, I think I made the right choice. It looks good and it's period for these things. Should be here next Wednesday. Can't wait to put it on!

Of the 3 options I like the Prototipo.

I find the fact that you have 9 gauges & A/C, and it looks "stock-ish", far more interesting & impressive. Wow...

thread coming back from the twilight zone....
I love Paul's Porsche Design wheel. Thats so 80's. And I'll bet it has great feel. Momo's are great.
BTW, when using the "chain-wheel", saude- suade (wtf that leather) gloves MUST be used
