Michelle and I stopped by Rich's, picked up a couple of parts. We would have swung by but it looks like it's about to dump some rain and I didn't want to put the top back on.
Those flares really did turn out good. Love the color.

I got them in trade from Jamie who cut them off a junkyard 914. 3 were pretty nicely done The 4th one I think the person just wanted to be done.
They do look unique for sure.
basically, they were made by cutting the fender and tipping it out the desired amount and then add strips of metal.
