Well we have a little time here, but I plan to rip my car down over the winter and fix some issues I have been wanting to get to. Like rust. Yep, I have a couple of spots to repair.
Also I plan on adding my Alien bars for Roll Control. I madde some 4130 hollow anti-sway bars a couple years back but have not had time to install them.
Oh and I plan on rebuilding my engine mount bar and enlarging my custom made oil pan.
Then, I am going to see if there are any other brave souls from MN or points east that want to hook up and caravan.

snip.... I think Tahoe is such a great venue...plenty of other stuff for the family to do, not just 24/7 914's...for the weirdo's who dont like that kind of thing:)
Umm
I think the local is a great Idea and I really want to attend but,
did anyone consider that the 9/17, 18, 19th is AFTER school starts in the fall?

Seeing as I am from Minnesota the Minnesota guys will get a beer on me the first night. Then we can stand around in the parking lot until 2am telling Oly and Lena jokes for those guys who think the Nordic people have no humor!
A couple rust spots!!! How did the MnDOT miss you're car???

Yes...that was one of the big selling points. Have you ever seen what Tahoe looks like during a summer weekend BEFORE school gets out? We'd be lucky to get 2 miles in during our 4 hour drive!

Yes Rich it was considered. In fact it should clear up some of the normal congestion that Tahoe gets before school is in session. We haven't decided what to do with Nicho yet. We will probably just have him stay with a classmate for the weekend. Many of us have empty nests and others have not started a family yet. Nicho is such a good student that we may even pull him out Thursday Friday and let him come... The school discourages it but he is so far ahead of the curve he could use the handicap. Really smart like McMark but better looking!

Ya yoU betcHA For suRE..
It spent most of it's life in San Mateo. But I now have the dreaded sail panel rust peaking through and a small blister at the lower corner of my front fender.
Not a big issue for me, but time to repair is. So, we drive it instead of standing back and throwing sugar at it.

Ahhh... San Mateo is close enough to the ocean that it gets salt sea air instead of salted roads... Still good though.

Sep 20 2009, 11:15 AM
We had a bug or two at the event... This drop top shows up at events all over NorCal and it was good to see it here as well... And again, my favorites are the 50's pickups. Check out the flames!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:21 AM
In addition to our two 914's and a Carrera, there were two other Porsche cars at the event. I saw a 928S in the parking lot and there was a '76 912 entered with RAT credits in the description.

What would the world outside of 914World be like without Thunderbirds?
There were tasty 50's Chevrolets everywhere you looked!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:31 AM
One of my favorite 50's Chevrolets is the '58 and this one was very nice. Too bad this was the best pic I could get as it was tucked into the shadows a bit.
Those Buick grills have so much character. My son said right away "it looks like a face!"
One token GTO at the event... No sheep though!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:40 AM
Need something delivered so fast it shows up with purple flames?
The 50's Ford trucks were not quite as plentiful but this one was very nice...
This red Chevrolet was my favorite but if I were to get and restore a Chevrolet pickup it would probably be a 70's C10 as they are more common and easier to buy ($)!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:46 AM
Two Chevs and a Mopar...
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:50 AM
More than honorable mention!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 11:56 AM
Here is an interesting 914 connection. This tasty 57 Chevrolet with swivel seats belongs to JCD914 - Jim Dupree's in-laws from Antioch CA...
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:03 PM
This first picture is of Jim's brother-in-law after we reminded him he was $1800.00 up at the casino so far this weekend! And if you let your eyes wander a bit to the left in that shot, you can take in some of the other umm... scenic things we saw at Cool September Days.
Another Chevrolet and then in this last shot, Jim is measuring in his head for that 427 in one of his 914's!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:10 PM
Another bird and Camaro and my choice of truck if I were to drive one home. Paul mentioned that he had restored one of these as well and if I know Paul, I would bet it was even nicer than this one!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:16 PM
There weren't as many hotrods as I expected... This one was nice though. I took this last shot of the crowd so you could see the mountains that surround the event. The scenic nature of Tahoe cannot be understated. It is so beautiful... This will be the backround of every picture you take when you come up to WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:23 PM
I couldn't resist another shot of my favorite truck. I would use 70's rally wheels with trim rings though... No modern crap wheels for me. This Challenger was misnamed. It was definately a winner! If I know my friend McMark, this rat-rod would have been his favorite and he would drive it to work daily at Original Customs!
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:29 PM
More trucks! My son Nicho thought that Chevrolet had the coolest paintjob. The Ford had a nicely executed BMW style hood modification. That last truck, with the scooter and the gas powered bike in the back was up for raffle. I bought two tickets. Do you think I can teach that truck to haul a 914 on a trailer? 79 Camaro driveline and suspension...
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:39 PM
Check out the flames! The red Chev had flames so real you wanted to stay back to keep from getting burned. They actually had dimension to them. The big Ford Truck was a 30's model. I wonder if it was ever hijacked by Capone?
ConeDodger
Sep 20 2009, 12:43 PM
This last shot had the most incredible period - correct display. On the passenger window was one of those swamp cooler AC units and it had a drive - in tray with burgers and a couple Cokes!
So there you have it. That is what the other side of the parking lot will look like at next years WCR 2010 at Lake Tahoe. They will include us in their event and invite people to watch our autocross and check out our cars... Best of all, security will be cruising around on golf carts to protect our cars...
This should be a great event so take the
advice and save the dates and some vacation time!
See you at WCR 2010!

What we need is a daily..., no an hourly post to keep us updated on the 2010 WCR planning...

I love Lake Tahoe and am excited about having my teener there, but the more I think about this show the more I wonder. Scheduling right on top of RRCs dates is certainly a bad thing, but seeing the show that we'd be lost in does not make WCR10 look all that appealing at the moment.

You brought this up in post #2 of this thread. I apologized to anyone who was offended by our choice of dates in post #49. We have moved on from that. If you can't then move along. It is a decision that was made by a group and as I said, it has been made. Not going to be changing.
