1973 2.0L with mods...would it make a good weekend driver???

The stock seat belts are still there -- the 5 points can be removed with a few bolts (According to seller).

I found a few threads regarding the cranecams FI Points-to-optical conversion. It seems that both points-to-optical is well-liked and the cranecams gear is a good choice.
