I'm a satisfied customer!
I called on Monday night after working hours, got a call right back and explained my explaination. Eric stayed late that night to rebuild a set for me and get them out tuesday morning before he went on vacation. Calipers got here on Thursday, put on that night, and now I'm ready to road trip on Sunday! Thanks! Scott PS-old calipers will be on the way next week! |

Hi Eric. I hope to buy the rear hub conversion and front rotors soon for my 72. Quick question...I have a set of American Eagle 15x6's that I was gonna use on my car, but my uncle needs those for his 5 lug VW Super Beetle because his genuine 14 x 6's rub the ball joint. Will my uncles' 14x6's work on my 914 without any clearance problems?. What size were the 914-6 rims originally?.
Thanks. I'll be in touch with you soon. Eddie. |

914-6 had fuchs in size 6x14
Stove burners (Mahles) in 5.5x15 and steelies in size 5.5x15 Remember that Beetles and 914s have different offset requirements I believe these are the correct sizes. |

Thanks for the response. I just have to make sure my 15 x6's will fit his car. I may have to find some 15x5.5's for the fronts of his super beetle.

I believe the comfort group Fuchs alloys (which "most" 914-6's came with) are 14x5.5
You souldn't have any problems. |

Major props to Eric. Got my calipers today. I happened to be at the shop that they were shipped to when they arrived. Shop owner was very impressed with the quality and the price.

There are no stainless pistons available for -4 calipers.
There are stainless steel pistons availble for -6 calipers however. Are the recommended? Not by me. I have seen "VERY" few steel pistons fail because of rust issues. 99.999% of all the steel pistons are reusable in this application. The only place I think stainless steel pistons are valid are in S-Calipers. The factory plated the pistons for the S-Caliper and 80% of the time, those plated pistons flake where the seal rests against the piston. (I think there's a picture of that in this thread). |

Eric in the R. application where you space out your stock /4 calipers with your "V" kit use the vented 911 rotor & your spacer, do you need longer studs in the hub?

It's "advisable" but right on the edge. The rotor spacer will move the rotor out 5mm. Our standard studs are longer than the 45mm factory studs but not all that is "engagement".
I would probably move up to the next stud length at that point. In fact, that's what I did with my RS replica when I used the 7mm factory spacers for the back. |
