Yes, but also used on GTs... and to answer the sound question, very loud 500 & 600 hertz IIRC.

Scored factory NOS carpet pieces! Drivers floor, passenger floor, and passenger bulkhead. Will refresh Frogger while keeping it accurate with 72-74 brown loop “Style 402”.
Many thanks to George @dr914@autoatlanta.com for his assistance and persistence!
Next in progress is a new center tunnel piece, which will complete the carpet renewal & preservation. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif)

thats pretty f$%^ing amazing you could get those carpet pieces.
and more amazing that some bits are still there. for special people and special cars.
well done to owner and supplier. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

i happen to know that brown/white flecked carpet is made of unobtanium.
i got the last 7m of the roll from germany back in about 94 to do my right hand drive version. that was through special contacts, via an old mate of mine with the hamilton's 914/6 who was on speaking terms to alan hamilton (the old aus distributor with special factory contacts and who had a secret soft spot for 914s and 914 owners). i got the royal treatment at the spare parts counter in melbourne and got what was left. it wasn't quite enough to do the whole car so i had to think carefully about which bit i would re-use. from the original carpet. it turned out to be the left wheel fender well piece.

now you will have to look after it @StarBear because that brown carpet can't take UV.
it just fades to that cream colour under exposure to the sun. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

you are going to have to unbolt the steering column to get that passenger firewall piece in ......but its worth it.

@wonkipop
Yep! Fades really badly - one person thought my center tunnel piece was beige, but the portions under the floor carpet and console show the true story. Fortunately, it doesn't see direct sunlight very often/much these days.

Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) for the confirmation about the bulkhead piece - looked at it last night and came to the same conclusion though not stated in any of the "instructions" I could find. Scary....

When looking under there last night I also discovered the "drivers bulkhead/pedalboard" piece. Starting to track one of those down though fortunately the one there is in fairly good shape, not very faded, and barely noticeable (I hadn't noticed it in almost 50 years!). We'll see - maybe just a good shampooing and fabric conditioner....

There was another roll of it, sold a year or so ago, but haven't been able to track down who bought it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I'm trying to document the precise part numbers for each piece, but some of the tags are quite faded and not sure if one was in its original bag.

For sun fade I have been applying fabric UV protection on seats, carpet, and coco mats. First car had faded interior and mats within a week…

Great suggestion, @Jett ! With all this work, it’s an easy, cheap protection. Will test on unfaded part of an old piece. Thanks!

Please consider sharing seals with 914Rubber.

Would sure be nice to get a scan of proper undeformed profiles.

I recently purchased a NOS front trunk seal on ebay.
I discovered an anomaly that others may help to confirm.
The defining feature of OEM seals is the molded one piece rear corners that are glued
to the running material of the side pieces.
Those rear corners are marked L and R and they are different in detail from each
other.
The curious thing is that when installed the side marked R ends up on the
drivers side and the L piece on the passenger side.
Convention is that L and R are in determined by driving direction.
Anyone ?

Speculation as an engineer that spent a lot of time in the automotive manufacturing world.

The R and the L are probably error proofing for assembly and have no relation to car position.

That R and L mark would be to keep parts identified before they were bonded to the side seals. R and L probably referenced the assembly fixture and/or the moulds.
