6405074 is with an unmatched car in MO. Not listed for sale.

6404202

We're seeking engine number 6404202. It appears it was listed for sale on The Samba a couple years ago. I attempted to contact the originator of that post, but have not gotten a reply.

If anyone can help put us in contact with the current owner, it would be appreciated. I am trying to help my dad reunite the engine with the original car.

Thank you.

I have 914-6 SN #6405540 Long Block In garage storage since the late 1970's.

jshark1979@gmail.com
davep
It would have come from something near 9140432350 +/-20 most likely. Since you have had it so long, I assume the original car was wrecked. There certainly seems to be more engines around than cars. sad.gif

I searched through the 12 pages on the web page and came up with nothing, so like it you posted, it was probably taken from a wreck.

What do you think it is worth.

Found a longblock for sale, but I'm unsure where its from. The first 3 digits indicate 914/6, but the last 4 are baffling to me. It doesn't seem to match up with 914/6 numbers. doesn't look like its from a 1970 911 either?

Any insight on what this was from?

Thanks in advance!

I've got case number 6404495 sitting on a shelf here at the shop. It's for sale but not advertised anywhere.

The Cap'n

Is this engine still available or does anyone know where to get 6404495? It is the engine that belongs to my 914/6 and I just found this thread while I was googling the engine number.

Cap'n Krusty's shop closed down, & all the parts were sold off. I don't remember any engines or cases in his storage when he passed away.

I have #6400681 in my GT Tribute. Would consider parting with it if it was going back into its original chassis but I suspect that car was wrecked and lost long ago as this car was built using factory 914-6 parts from a couple of cars.

Looking for case no. 6404204 for my vin no. 9140430331. If anybody knows where this engine is please contact me on here, thanks!
The car was distributed by Porsche Car Northwest, Inc., Beaverton OR, and has a history in Arizona and California (?) Then it had registration number WILD6. Used in autoslalom events etc.
It would be great to trace it up if it still exists..

I can't believe the interest in 914-6's FOR YOUR INTREST I have had ser# 1937 with eng # 5237 on the COA. I've had the car since 1992 and it is just new being restored .
StarBear
It looks like the id match hunt goes only one way - have to have vin number, get PNA COA (now PP) to get the engine # that goes with the vin. Anti-fraud tactic, as vins more easy to fake?? confused24.gif
rgalla9146
The COA will not PROVIDE original component numbers.
You provide the check and the VIN and the component numbers of the parts you
have.
The COA will only confirm a matching number if it is in their records.
Transmission numbers are rarely in production records of our cars but can be known
'approximately' if compared to VIN, Karmann chassis number and engine number.
They usually get color code and interior color right and sometimes options too.
The description of options can cause confusion.
Prepare to be dissapointed......... given the cost.
914s were not a priority model.
