Easier, yes. Cheaper? Not sure.
To change from the tail-shift to the side-shift setup, you not only need to change the transmission (or modify the tail-shift one), but you also need a complete later gear-shift linkage, including all of the rods and even the gear shift lever itself, plus the motor mount bar and all of the mounting hardware for that bar.

http://harrasteet.1g.fi/kuvat/OmaPossu+II/...27.3.12+011.JPGShould I solder it or just leave it like that?

That was not so much work on your body.
Looks easy !! 1-2weeks work.
I think you should epoxypaint the body as soon as possible.
The oiltank is cooper coated so it will not rust.
why don't you powdercoat it? Satin black.

Its soda blasted so it is not so hurry with painting.
Do I have to take copper away before powdercoating? Its rust free and copper layer is solid. What paint would stay on copper?
Niklas
Apr 2 2012, 12:34 AM
No I think you just can paint it.

I had my oil tank specialty coated with a covering (gloss black) that helps PULL heat out or a distrubtion heat coating. It looked very good and in concept it can't hurt to help pull some degrees out from the oil.
I think the color came out nicely and I'm all for using new technology on these cars that was not around in 1970.
Here is a look (crappy cell pic):
