Easier, yes. Cheaper? Not sure.

To change from the tail-shift to the side-shift setup, you not only need to change the transmission (or modify the tail-shift one), but you also need a complete later gear-shift linkage, including all of the rods and even the gear shift lever itself, plus the motor mount bar and all of the mounting hardware for that bar.

Jeff, I wrote about my ex 914 (1971 1,7), not 6.
Jeffs9146

914.301.101.00

I did not found anything with this code. To what model it belongs?
Niklas
I think it is for a 1972.

Niklas
Jeffs9146
Along the top of the transmission stamped into the ridge there should be a number! I remember seeing it I just don't remember what it was except it was not 914/01!

I was starting to clean up oiltank and found this little crack. It is in upper part of tank.
http://harrasteet.1g.fi/kuvat/OmaPossu+II/...27.3.12+011.JPG
Should I solder it or just leave it like that?

How to paint tank, how was it after it left factory?

Where is all the rust? Very little rust in this 6-body smile.gif
Okay some accident repair and welding has to be done!

OmaPossu
Is this oiltank copper? What is this paint then? It does not weight as much as copper should.
http://harrasteet.1g.fi/kuvat/OmaPossu+II/...il+tank+028.JPG
Niklas
That was not so much work on your body.
Looks easy !! 1-2weeks work.
I think you should epoxypaint the body as soon as possible.

The oiltank is cooper coated so it will not rust.
why don't you powdercoat it? Satin black.

Niklas
OmaPossu
Its soda blasted so it is not so hurry with painting.

Do I have to take copper away before powdercoating? Its rust free and copper layer is solid. What paint would stay on copper?
Niklas
No I think you just can paint it.
OmaPossu
Just got all four fenders from Restoration Design, sail panel repair piece from 914-teile and shake hands for a deal with Lithuanien restoration shop. Body is going to Riga for straightening and welding and painting smile.gif

But what is the colour... idea.gif

Mr.242
I had my oil tank specialty coated with a covering (gloss black) that helps PULL heat out or a distrubtion heat coating. It looked very good and in concept it can't hurt to help pull some degrees out from the oil.
I think the color came out nicely and I'm all for using new technology on these cars that was not around in 1970.
Here is a look (crappy cell pic):

Good Luck!
OmaPossu
Interesting coating and looks good! I already painted my tank old way..

Back to begining. Motivation do not disappear.
Niklas
Sorry for that.
It is expensive to do sheetwork on cars in Scandinavia...
The best is to do it yourself:)

I made new deal today with local welder/painter smile.gif
Only problem is that he does not have "celette bench" but I can arrange that elswhere.
It's going to cost little more than in Latvia but...
Relieft!
Niklas
Do you really need a bench to the body ??
You can cross meausure the body.
Have you measured it ?

Niklas
What is the cost to fix the body....??
OmaPossu
Niklas: I have not measured it properly but drivers side front corner seems to be 3-4cm up. Thats 1,5 inch. After celette bench I am sure its straight!
Maybe Jeff has an opinnion about this?

4k€ for velding and painting in Finland. Cheap in Finland, expensive elswhere..
