how bad do you think traffic will be? will there be a car corral?
The car corral is being handled by the PCA and the decision on where the Porsches will be parked will be decided this week.
In regards to traffic, all 4 gates will be open. A lot of people don't like South Boundary road (parallels Hwy 68), but it's relatively flat so you avoid the hills off Hwy 68. Since the track sits on a county park it is governed by the county. They do not like Hwy 68 backed up since it's one lane in both directions as the local residents don't like bumper to bumper traffic (who does?). In a lot of cases traffic will be dictated by the CHP/ Sherriff's office forcing the track to move race traffic on S. Boundary road by closing the gate off A and/or B road (main gates). This is the case for most big races. Depending on where you're going or coming from many take Barloy Canyon road off Reservation road which takes you to Hwy 1 or Hwy 68. If that is the way you want to go I can get you exact directions.
Harlen
Harlen,
My understanding from the track now is that there is no more paved parking left.
My plan now is to take public trans from Monterrey Transit out of Salinas or the Community College.
Can you confirm they will be running both days. I do not want to park in the dirt.

it would be great to get an unofficial count or idea of how many 914s are going to physically make the corral. I saw a press release from the raceway that the total corral space is almost full (like 800 cars). I hope we represent our contingency with a fair showing of cars.
Yes, the Porsche Corral, which is the lakebed of the track is completely sold out with 800 cars, the most ever.

You are correct; tickets will be sold at the gate. However, it will cost about $20 more. Suggest buying them at the advanced price. I will be selling tickets to Porsche Rennsport during my Cars & Coffee on October 1st which will be at the advance price. Plus, if you buy it at C&C you will not incur the handling cost which is like $10.

Yes, Porsche corral parking in the lakebed is completely sold out with 800 cars, the most ever. This will be the largest event of one make ever on the west coast. You can check with ticketing to see if any of the other parking is sold out such as Red 9, which is the paved area right above the start/finish line.
In regards to the MST bus, yes they will be running Friday through Sunday, but I believe Friday will be a limited schedule. I will know for sure by next week. Picking it up at Monterey Peninsula College is a good spot (plenty of parking), but so
is Embassy Suites hotel in Seaside. It's free with a ticket and it only takes about 20 minutes. They arrive and drop off every hour. Go to
http://www.mst.org/maps-schedules/route-list/ and see lines 36-39.
If you're a Porsche fan, this will be one of the best events ever. I should have more detailed information by next week.

Saturday will probably be the best day if you had to choose. Two main reasons: cars that are going to be displayed at Sunday's Porsche Classic at the Quail will have to run their race on Saturday. Also, there are going to be about 65 Porsche race drivers and I doubt they're going to be there for all 3 days.
I also noticed that the MRLS website only shows the run groups, but not a description of what's in the race groups. I have it somewhere and if I find it I'll post it here. Maybe that will help.

Last week when I called for camping (thru SCRAMP) they still had lots of campsites availible. Thye are more $$ than when you rent the same site from the county but that is the norm.
All the camping at Laguna for any race event has to go thru SCRAMP not the county.
