The 17th edition of the traveling party known as the Route 66 Classic is ON !
The dates are Wednesday June 23 to Sunday June 27.
The starting location is Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Volunteers are sought to help plan the Car Show, Awards, Vendor SWAG, T-shirts, Tour Routes, etc.



Tues. 22 - Las Vegas Caravan.
Kingman hook-up. - 10:00 am
Dinner and Hotel in Albuquerque.


Wed. 23 - Rendezvous in Santa Fe, NM.
Our host hotel will be the El Rey Court. Tell them you are with the 'Porsche 914 Group'.
Explore Downtown Plaza, Shopping, Canyon Road, Museums, Georgia O'Keeffe.

Las Vegas is an hour away. The early birds will go there for dinner.
*(Vegas drive begins at 4:20 pm. Departure time for all other drives is 9:14 am.)


Thurs. 24 - Jemez Mountain Trail.
Bandelier National Monument. Bradbury Science Museum. Lunch in Los Alamos.
Return route adds Valles Caldera, Jemez Springs and Coronado Monument.

Wheeler Peak, Earthship Biotecture, Rio Grande Bridge.
Lunch in Taos. Pizza Party Picnic Dinner at El Rey Court.

Drive through the Petrified Forest National Park then on to Winslow, AZ. "Standing on a corner . . . "

Sun. 27 - Off to your next adventure. This one is done.
If you want to follow me, I am going to continue on Rt. 66 West. (Flagstaff, Williams, Kingman, Oatman.)
I will cross into Needles*, California before turning north for home. *(where the event started last year.)

Our block of rooms is being held until April 23rd. After that, you are on your own.
Pets are welcome. Breakfast only on the weekends. Didn't ask about trailer parking.

I’ll try my best to make this, at least for Wednesday-Thursday. Should be done with the 5-lug swap and new tires by then. I’ll persuade my brother to tag along with his 69 911.

The last time I saw De Chelly and Bandelier was almost 40 years ago.
Back then I thought backpacking in for a couple of days was the thing to do.
This time I probably won't even leave the parking lot.

I'm a maybe...we have trips weekends before and after. Not sure I can pull this one off as well.

I got the car out of storage, drove it around the block, then made a to do list only a page long...

Hotel booked. Hopefully we don't have to cancel, there are alot of moving parts to make this work for us.

Booked for Wednesday night. Five lug swap almost done, rear calipers out for PMB magic, then new tires for the cookie cutters. If it still runs after all that, I’ll make it!

The El Ray at $700+ with no cancellations and no refunds doesn't fit my reality...

...so looking at options I see Cottonwood Court Motel within walking distance and a bit nicer Lamplighter Inn a short drive.

Wow, I had to double check my reservation! $159 with 48 hour cancellation. Are you sure you got the right hotel? Regardless, plenty of options in Santa Fe, just don't get too close to the plaza for a decent price.

The group rate was 15% off the regular price.

$159 for a standard Queen sounds correct.
My reservation says $179 for a King.


P.S. - I had some guest at the bar yesterday who knew the property.
They said it had been nicely renovated and the grounds are wonderful.
