That is a small fortune in shims. That will help offset some of the cost of the Cellete.
We need to know about that exploding shock.
Say Hi to Pete Stout for me. I'm working on that article for the GT I found in Canada.

Did you really have to cut the cage? Was the stress that bad? Are you going to be able to weld the cage back together or is it time for a new one?

Aaaahndy wanted to remove the doors, so they left 'em in Napa. Turns out they're very useful for telling how and where some of the chassis is bent, so B scraped up some other early doors for the tub.
Either that, or Aahndy wanted to try the "Captain America" look.
....So, did you guys ever start pulling the damn thing? When I had to leave, the only actual moving of parts of the chassis was some beating on the front suspension pickup point with a BFH...

yes. just got home, we got all the pulling done on my red car, it's sitting all bolted down until tomorrow morning. we'll see if we did the job right when we unbolt the fixtures.
if the tub stays, we're done! if not, we have to do some more
this was a real learning experience for me!
i am not afraid of the mighty celette anymore ...

the cuts all came apart with a loud BANG, displacing the tubes up the 1/2" in places ...
guess there was some load on the cage after we started pulling the tub ...

yeah, Rafael has done hundreds of those pulling sessions ... as i said, couldn't have done it without him!
fiberglass is holding up well so far, we got a lot of scary noises from the tub, but no major pieces that fell off ...
fingers crossed for tomorrow when we unbolt the fixtures ...

Whats up with the shock? When did it blow?
That kinda explains that one video of "bouncing"

The shock blew directly in my face. It took me 20 seconds to figure out where the friggin' shower came from.
I knew everything was unhooked, including the brake lines, then I saw the shock looking very odd and it all clicked. The shaft had completely dislodged and the chassis was holding it in place. So when I grabbed the wheel and started to pull it, out the shaft came out completely and I got hosed! This picture is exactly what I was looking at when it went off.
It was a great time. I learned a lot and it was great to have so many people show up to help out.
IIRC, there was Jon Watts, Pete Stout, Bill ________, Bill Pickering, Randal Barrick, Gwen Golub, Chung (
not Daniel :wince), Dave Darling, Fiid, Jenny, Lyressa, Dave Hunt & Gerry, Andy and Me. Who did I forget.
