Late to the thread, sorry if I repeat anything.

One of the most-hated (therefore cheap) wheels is the Riviera. They look sick blacked out (keep the rims bright). Do it right and even the experts will ask you what they are.

No – because it’s obvious that these are the best looking wheel choice!Click to view attachment

Haha- love how that picnic consists of a few bananas, a loaf of bread, bottle of wine and a full keg. No blankets though....

Seems like almost all the wheel options have been shared. smile.gif

Here is another one, magnesium MOMO. Only 914 picture I could find online, not my car, but had these on my Beetle 30 years ago. wub.gif

Ah yes - Pedrini's. I'm partial - had em on my 73 and always thought they were handsome.

Anybody ever see these on a 914?

i'd like to know what these were.
they were 4 bolt
but 5 spoke.
they were on one of the crayfords cars that came here in the 70s.
still on it 30 odd years ago when i last saw it.

they had to have been english wheels or european manufacturer?
definitely not by any aus manufacturer i knew of.
never seen them on anything else here.

Impact bumpers at their best with a black car. Polished Mahles really pop and the long bumper gives a unique profile with hints of Alfa spider. Beauty!

I had never seen these before, but there's a set for sale on Facebook. They are 14", but the seller is in Spain and seems reluctant to ship. I think they'd look great refurbished with maybe a gunmetal powder coat inner.

ATS too! Like them very much… I think very difficult to get now.

I'm a fan of these Rinasa wheels too......with the right powdercoating, I think they would look great on the right car. A guy in Colorado Springs has a set of these for sale right now on Craigslist.

Retroracer
Stumbled across some narrow body wheel options - for those with 5 lug hubs - that I didn't know existed until recently; thought I'd share with the world and add into this thread:

http://iozziowheels.com

No affiliation, but I've seen some up close on a VW and they are VERY nice.

- made in USA
- 5x130 bolt pattern, width options from 5.5" and up
- 17" or 18" options
- 2 or 3-piece construction
- many custom options

Fuch-like and another classic design are the main choices. I believe the "coming soon" ones may be a take on the Mahle (see pic), but not officially on the website .... no idea on pricing. Anyway, FYI.

I'm a fan of the Minilites too, but the Revolutions are good looking too. Recently saw this car on Craigslist for sale, and I really like these. They are called Cromodoras...

I have a nice set of ATS wheels on my 75' that should come to life sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Cromodoras are very similar to ATS wheels that are German. Both have their names cast in the wheel.

I wish it had 5 lug Fuchs, but for the 4 lug question it would be the Fuchs for me.

I think the fuch is probably one of, if not the, best looking most flexible design for a wheel period.

Great looking example, I have the same car here in Buffalo, NY. Originally a CA car, same Palma, wheels. Working the restoration into the schedule, not heavily rusted. Is yours original paint?

Thread from the dead...

To lazy to look at all of the previous pages in the post to see if this was already mentioned, but I but found this when looking for something on another thread. I didn't realize that Mahles were a bit lighter than the Fuchs.

Mahle - 13 lbs. 4 oz.
Fuchs - 13 lbs. 15 oz.
914 Steel "Sport" wheel - 17 lbs. 0 oz.
914 Steel "Beetle" wheel - 17 lbs. 1 oz.
Minilite - 17 lbs. 15 oz.

These look interesting...

If these are 15 x 5.5, are they exactly the same size as a 4-lug fuch wheel?

Just a Photoshop mock-up right now, but Group 4 Wheels will be offering a 6 x 15 version of the Campagnolo replicas, with Porsche offset and PCD. Will be running these on my hillclimb car as soon as they arrive (due mid-May).

QUOTE(Ottomotion @ Feb 7 2023, 02:54 PM) *

@ericoneal These are Rinasa wheels. I like 'em too, and I actually contacted the seller last week. He said the backspacing was around 3.5 inches....I believe Fuchs are somewhere around 4 & 5/8's. Someone else might check me on that. That said, I think you'd have to run fairly narrow tires or you'd be rubbing on the outer fender lip. I've never tried to put a set on a 914, so some of this is speculation on my part.
914rrr
Would a 14 x 5.5 with approx. 3.25" backspacing work on a narrow body 914? Have a line on an old set of 4 x130 Western Minilite repos.

Also, does anybody have an old Western catalog page for these Superlite wheels with specs?
