Registration for the SIG Targa is full with a collage of 52 Porsches. If you missed signing up I hope you still come out to RD for the open house. We'll try to slide you in to the Targa as there is bound to be a couple of no shows. Please contact me if you'd like to be on an unofficial waiting list and I'll see what I can do.

Terry Fox 911

Us Canucks are celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend.

I'm feeling particularly thankful for all the healthy kids in my Grade 4 class. On Friday, the kids painted my 911 to raise awareness for their fundraising effort in support of the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry's Marathon of Hope. Can you believe it? Here is a short video about the School Run: Anything Is Possible

With the COVID situation, this year's fundraising effort is pretty abysmal. There is certainly no expectation or pressure on anyone to donate, but if this is a cause close to your heart and you'd like to make some kids smile here is the link to our fundraising page at the Terry Fox Foundation. I wish I could share with you pictures of them painting the car and then parading the neighbourhood with banners. They would be sure to make you smile.

The kids were completely stoked to paint a Porsche and the car drew lots of attention and photo ops in front of the school.

The #40 Sonauto has actually set the new benchmark for 914 sales...as Porsche says in some of their adverts: "Nothing even comes close". In this case, Brutus, the O. Chandler 916, Duval m471, all sold way South of #40. Price cannot be disclosed as an agreement between the parties . Side note: the #86 BFG in the pic , which was part of the acquisition...is featured in this month's 000 Magazine (issue 16). The BFG Radials T/A (street tires) equipped on 2 924GTR race cars entered in the 1982 LM24 hour.

The 914s continue to crawl out of the woodwork in Ontario.

Just today I put Damien's Bumble Bee on my lift with a sick engine. Letting her warm up, no reason to work on a frozen 914.
Ethan and I will give it an inspection tomorrow AM.

Welcome Brad. That must be a US import at one point; I am not sure of any70 or 71 models imported by VW Canada. Lots from 72 on though. Dave

Just got home with a one owner car, (green) about 65000 miles if the odometer is right. Sticker on the plate says it was last licensed in 1981. Back of the car says it's a 1.7 but I haven't checked the block for codes yet. Side shift transmission. No rust in the hell hole! Anyone up on VIN numbers? 4732900436.

Sorry had to do that. It was headed for a scrap bin tomorrow and I couldn't let that happen. Too many parts.

PS, no need to check VIN. It already tells you that it is a '73, which you already knew as it is the only year for 1.7 and sideshift.

I am uncertain what you want here. If you want to lower the rpms while cruising in top gear then that could be a bit of a challenge. The 914 has a fifth gear code ZD which is the highest normally available gear set. No 911 even used a gear that high. In fact, the 914/4 is actually lugging the engine in 5th at normal legal speeds; the choice the factory made to maximize fuel economy back in the day, but insufficient airflow to properly cool the heads it has been claimed. On the other hand, there a lot of choices below ZD available.
