Hey Chris,

Very nice shot of of you at SOW.

I've been trying to get some 914s out to play when I run time trial events there. So whom do you run with? I run mostly with SpeedTrialUSA and also with ExtremeSpeedTrackEvents. I'd love to meet you out there, got any plans for 2012?

Terry,

Sorry, I just saw your reply. I've only been driving with POC in recent years. Have thought about moving towards vintage stuff i.e. HSR West, especially if I end up with a newer Porsche to run with POC and keep the 914 as well.

Unfortunately my car has been down way longer than planned for body and engine work so my early-2012 plans are uncertain...

Cheers,
moggy

You know I saw so many people taking pictures of the car at the track and I can't find any on track pictures on the internet. If anyone has any, let me know. Thanks. beerchug.gif

A couple of pics of the Junk Yard Dog at its first real shake down runs at a DE at the Pomona fairgrounds. A few squawks, but nothing too major and its looking like it should be a pretty good car!

We rescued the tub from a storage unit (Complete with the horrible cage that is soon to be replaced) and put it together with bits we had around the shop. Hence the Junk Yard Dog!

I didn't run the splitter. The track is rough and it's a pain to get on and off the trailer...

Great photos! Now here is a trivia question:

Why did many 914 teams paint the front bumpers 2 different colors?
carr914
So they could tell the cars apart from a distance
mettelman
Exactly. That way they didn't risk calling the wrong car into the pits!

Ran the Junk Yard Dawg last weekend with Alfa Club up at Buttonwillow. Qualified fourth behind a Formula Mazda (no kidding!), a Dodge Viper GTR comp. and an SCCA GT-something Golf. I missed the qualifying race due to other driving obligations, so I started the points sprint race dead last (18th) and finished 6th. Not bad going for a 2.0 four-banger that's still being dialed in!

Here's my 914 I've been driving for a bunch of years now. It's a semi-tube frame I built myself, and has custom panels that I also made. It's powered by a 2.7L 911 motor.

Here is my very nearly ready track toy. Might see its first weekend this week but a gremlin in the crabs needs to get exercised.
