Holy crap Kev. I member you had a lot of stuff packed in there!!
rhodyguy
i've shrunk the mass down quite a bit. if i can sell a few engines there will be enough room to insulate and finish it off for a rental "cottage". biggrin.gif when the master's tournament comes to the tacoma area next year, i hope to have some motor homes parked in the driveway feeding the cash register.

Alright, I am still trying to un-fuck my data sheet that was lost when my computer rebooted (never happened before to excell). So, I also have confusion as screen names dont match real names and I have duplicates on my list, probably.

First, who is still owed a bearing set that paid for it?
- Jet you have two less the big bearings, that one I know.
- Blair, 912 from CA has a set

That should be it.

Second, who the hell is coming? Here is my list:

Rhodyguy - got bearings
NORD (RIP, sad.gif ) - If I can get a hold of family to refund, I will and should have his bearing set for nine9three.
Jurgen - paid last time and couldnt go, covered this time
Bradtho - Jurgen's beyotch wink.gif
Hank914 - paid, got bearings
Mark - Covered, host
Jet - Darren and Wife
Blair - not on this site
??? - gonna have to look up this one, no name recorded but paid
Marcus - I know who you are
Tom(nine9three) - Have you paid for the clinic? Date so I can enter it into my sheet?
J. Young - check arrived today, who are you???

Anyone missing??? PM me so I can get my stuff straight.

Third, may of you have extra cores. Figure that one extra core should be sufficient to supply your rebuild transmission with parts. If you have other spare cores, I am interested. PM me to let me know what you have. With all the spare cores, looks like I may lose my ass on this as far as parts sales....such is life. I need to do more East clinics where the cores tend to be scarce wink.gif
Dr Evil
Also, things that can help you out:

- Table. Does not need to be huge. A 2'x2' space is sufficient for the whole build. Bring to share is nice.

- Cordless impact driver. This will expedite diassembly and reassembly. I will bring mine, but more is better.

- Hammers and punches.

- You will only need the following sockets; 10, 13, 14, 19. You can bring, but I will have, deep 30mm.

- Large snap ring pliers are nice. If you cant find, I will supply one or two sets. Not much of an issue, but it is a rate limiting step.

- Gloves, white rags (painters rags) not the red ones that leave red crap in and on everything.

- Brake cleaner. One can can do a whole transmission if you do not get crazy.

- Drain it before the clinic. If not, I will have to throw you in the sound!

I think that is it. Ask questions so I can clarify anything smile.gif
Mr.242
Lodging: I know this location might be a tad out of the way, but it's a place.
There is the Little Creek Casino that isn't too far away and cheaper rates inside Shelton (Motel 6 and such).

There is some limited tent space on the property, yet it's not to level. We've got a shower in the house and those who need to clean up should bring bring their own shower supplies.

LUNCH: I'll have access to a grill and we can do up some simple burgers, dogs, or brats. I'm going to be building a tranny so I'm not going to be able to BBQ up things. If enough interest, I'll accept $$ donations. Otherwise bring your own lunch. I'll also try to fill a cooler with ice so one can deposit their beverage of choice to chill.

Any other inquiries: shoot me a text or call (509)553-9246 on my personal cell or PM me here.

Is it getting too late to do the trans clinic?

I am seriously thinking about pulling the tranny on the 914 and heading up for the clinic, the only problem on the tranny is the 1st and 2nd gear syncro's are worn. I also have a 1968 912 that also has the same problem and would like to learn from the 914 trans.

If too late I would like to be a spectator and help out also interested in purchasing a DVD.

Dr Evil
Not too late. PM me and we can work out the details.
rhodyguy
off watch, i have an extra new gasket set if you should decide to participate.
helios
I've got a prior engagement I've committed to in the evening in Marysville...

But I may pop by and harass some old faces earlier in the day. Been a while since I've been on the ferry, so it may be a good excuse to cruise down Whidbey Island, pop across the water to Port Townsend, then back across to Edmonds.

Great, put my name on it. Let me know how much.
rhodyguy
chris, thats the REAL long way to the clinic!
helios
It's either that or all the way down I-5 around Tacoma and back up. Might as well make it scenic. driving.gif

And I just realized I meant Edmonds on the return trip, not Mulkiteo. I always get those 2 screwed up.
rhodyguy
screw I-5 thru seattle. I-5, 405, 167, 512, then I-5 south.

off watch (real name?). i'll bring the set with me. bringing them all actually.
i also have an extra throw out arm pivot clip, throw out arm ball cup bushing, and the 2 plastic retaining pieces for the throw out bearing itself. all in a little over $50. we'll settle up at the clinic.
Daiberl
So where are most people plan to stay, I haven't booked anything yet.

Mike,

Ill be there on Sunday as we discussed. What time will you and the guys begin work on Sunday? Also, please check your records but my check ($300) showed that it cleared the 28th of July. Looking forward to this!
rhodyguy
Mike, do you want me to pull the lever consoles to drain the rest of the lube? Did the drain plugs and tilted them on their sides.

I drained my tail shifter completely and scrubbed it clean as a whistle. And I also pulled off the tail cone and took out the gears. Bringing everything with me. I got a can of break cleaner also.

I'll be there Saturday am, what time does it start?

Also, when should we expect it to wrap up?

Did any previous clinics finish in one very long day, or do they all go two days?

And I was not able to come up with a table. Should I look for a folding one from a local Costco?

Thanks!

balljoint
Usually it's only the guys who get help from the Doctor who need a second day.

Yes PLEASE.... I will get a drain pan for oil. But don't want a fricken drop if I can help it.

I'll be getting some saw horses from Rhodyguy and I'll bring a couple. I think we have some table materials for all.

What ever you do, do not remove the gasket from between the case and the intermediate plate. I will need this to set your pinion depth.

If anyone has their stack out, you might as well check your pinion teeth to see if they are roached. I am counting on the cores I get there to cover that problem.

I just boxed up enough dog teeth, bands, sliders, and bearings to cover everyone. Pretty much my whole supply. I hate mailing stuff, but it is about 80# in 3 boxes. Gotta love the flat rate. Even with insurance it was only $90 to ship it all which is less than the baggage fee would have been. Boxes will go out tomorrow and are scheduled to be delivered Wed. I will have only 3 tools in my checked bag. Keeping it light and simple this time.

I wont be able to relax until the boxes get there dry.gif I had to use much of that stuff up until later today and now I can not do any more work until I get back and my stuff arrives back to the house.
Dr Evil
Oh ya, start around 9am and I go until we stop. This is often midnight to 2am. Some get stuff done in one day. If you want stuff done in one day it would be best if you let me do most of the work. I can assemble a box from cleaned parts in about 3min. The cleaning is the part that takes the time.

Mark, do we have a vice handy? That would help immensely, but if not we will make do.
rjames
Just to let everyone know, I'll be crashing the party on Sunday as the Good Doctor was kind enough to offer his services to perform some warranty work on a transmission he rebuilt for me last year. I made sure it was ok with him and that I wouldn't be interrupting the instruction.

Looking forward to saying hi to everyone.

Hi Mike,
I will definitely be attending (cash in hand). Are you serious about the finish time being between midnight and 2 AM? Is that for people that need to finish in 1 day?

Is there any reason I shouldn't bring my impact wrench for dis-assembly?

I'm up for chipping in for food and will eat practically anything (except slimy bivalves).

I'll also bring beer.

Cheers,
Van
Dr Evil
Yup, serious about the end time. Many push me that late and I dont mind. I am there to work. Impact is key. I am bring mine in my checked bag.

Were you in my original list??? I did not account for you in my parts shipment. I should still be fine, though.
rhodyguy
expect me earlier than 8:45. not 5:30am or anything. i'll have fresh maple bars for you to top with your fresh morning oysters and wash down with rainiers. breakfast of champions. let me know if there are any last hiccups and i'll try to tend to them.

I'm listed in the first post of the thread. My ability to participate was sketchy (had just lost a pet when money was due). I am bringing 1 or 2 spare transmissions (for a total of 2 or 3) and a gasket kit.

Speaking of gaskets, because the transmissions I usually rebuild go into a race car, I use Ultra Black sealant instead of gaskets. Is that a viable option on these transaxles?

Van
rhodyguy
note the importance of the gasket thickness and pinion depth. post #223. i think my extra gasket sets are all spoken for at this time. but then, some people haven't paid for theirs yet.

No sealant. Not used in race cars, not used in 901. I remember you now, I did accommodate for you smile.gif

Dont remove seals.

See ya there!

I never saw a response to Jeurgen's question about accommodations. so if we're working that late, is there a "crash on the floor" option available anywhere?
JimN73
Crash on the floor?

Moved into our house in Gig Harbor last week and will be unpacking for some time. We do have an empty room with a shower - no bed yet. Bring a sleeping bag/air mattress and you're welcome to stay.

Gig Harbor is an hour from Shelton

PM, please.

blink.gif Uh, that is a question that really should have been answered before now. We are working in a garage. No floor to crash on. If you need to be awake to get to and from your accommodations then I highly recommend that you work within your limits and stop before midnight and come back for day two. confused24.gif

sounds like mike is trying to let you guys know the cabin is prob off limits. don't forget your poop bucket.

Hi, I'm new here and was wondering if I could crash the clinic as an observer/helper. I live in Port Orchard and could bring 2 more 3/8 impacts with extra batteries, big snap ring pliers and some kind of bench with a vice if necessary. Plus torque wrenches and a small hydraulic press. Please! Save me from the Blackberry Festival!
I have been a mechanic for over 30 years, so hopefully more help than hindrance. Looking forward to taking some notes and learning the tricks.

I'm planning to bring some stuff to grill and I understand there's going to be a grill there to use. If you like my cooking, then you'll owe me time when it comes to putting my engine in and getting it tuned up. If you don't like my cooking, then bring your own.

Mr.242
We have running water and a toilet on property.

As for lodging Friday night will have some floor space. Saturday the wife and family are showing up and will need respect for them. The floor space or crash space will be limited.

meals. I suggest Buffett style. Everyone bring something to snack on and share. As for the grill. I suggest hot dogs and someone who is watching can grill some up. Beer is always the option, drinking and driving is not cool. Be responsible.

My cell: 509-553-9246 send me a text or call.

I am doing Coug game tomorrow evening with family. Dr. Evil and I will head down Friday am. Prep. Tear down a couple scrap trannies. Do some crabbing (I really want to give the Dr. His first crabs at a tranny clinic!!)

Thanks Billy for Brats. I will chip in $$$.

Hope they got the pots set for high tide or in for a soak. I'm bringing a few doz donuts and a big jug of coffee. Bring your own cup.

I'm bringing some muffins, blackberries picked today from our yard. Maybe some blueberry too.

What time does the entertainment start?
