Bondo: My first statement on this is that Shift Coupler Bushings should not really be considered Lube.

While a large number of Shift Coupler Bushings could be used as lube for something very large (lets say a ship being slid across a runway) they don't have properties that we would normally like in a lube. Namely they don't seem to have much surface adhesion. Try spreading some on a vertical surface, they just fall off. Granted, graphite powder can be used as a Lube, but there is at least some electrostatic adhesion going on.

Perhaps someone will be able to tell me though, if I have an airplane sitting on a few hundred Shift Coupler Bushings, will it be able to take off?

If it's a Jet ..... NO ..... they get sucked into the intake of the turbine and unbalance the machinery which causes the engine to fall off in pieces.

If a prop ..... NO ..... the screw won't be able to generate enough force to overcome the wheel block.
TonyAKAVW
Slits: how about one of these?

Looks like the intakes are high enough that they wouldn't get sucked in. Of course that depends on the quantity. If we are talking 8.3 billion, it might be a problem.

Greetings. If you are reading this, then it means you have unwittingly joined my army of post whoring soldiers. Today we rest, but someday you may be called upon to fight an evil so great that it cannot be mentioned. I trust that all of you are willing and able to put your lives on the line to secure our future.

Well, I can spot an inherent design flaw. While the engines are certainly high enough to prevent shift coupler bushings from getting sucked in, The WMDs it's carrying, fired at the same time, would stall the aircraft in flight and it would fall from the sky. When the craft hit the ground, covered with shift bushings, it would disintegrate. The cushioning ability of shift bushing is not sufficient to prevent this.

And Miracle Whip would have saved the day!
Aaron Cox
i would put a suby in it.
TonyAKAVW
So that craft is called an Ekranoplan. Made in the cold war era by the Soviets. They had a whole bunch of different designs. They operate using the 'ground effect' and can carry tremendous weight.

Wikipedia has some info:

I was reading thru my recently delivered copy of the magazine 'condement daily'

and they were saying that Miracle Whip was made from that white stuff that

developes between a race horses thighs. The 'Whip' is in honor of the jockey's

that whip the horses into a frenzy before the finish line, and the 'miracle' is that

someone actually buys it. The other subscribers were pissed off that the magazine

had included an article on Miracle Whip, because as you know MW is N.A.R.C. (Not

A Real Condement) biggrin.gif

At least the Suby would have plenty of water to stay cool with. And I would paint it purple aubergine.
