So, I think the next step was quite logical..the battery tray
I did built it by hand couple months ago:


So it was time to adjust and weld it, first the bottom part:


And then the top:




All done and all fits great:


I then found one last hole on the firewall:


That I welded close:


And now we have a nice engine bay/right long:

Yes, a 914 on jackstands for too long get's tiring. It's a good feeling to have a project take that step to being back on the ground.

We got some colors!!
I decided to make it a bit unconventional and paint a couple parts first to allow me to move forward with the build..
So here some fresh paint!!




And then I could build the fresh air box, the wiper system and the tank back:

Now to connect everything, and try to start it again..and of course body paint/building of all parts.. it will move fast now, I want it on the road in june !

The ancient fuel injection gets finicky with bad grounds. I’m sure you know that already.
It must feel good to have some colour on it. Keep going.

@930cabman : Il will try to think to make a picture from the outside, even if it's not that special outside except the stone above the door saying "Built in 1560, damaged in 1704 and rebuilt in 1719"..so I own a shop that is almost 500 years old
For the paint : No, base+clear coat..got this recommandation, looks actually pretty nice for a first time garage paint..nice enough for me and no stress to use it !

@Dion : good eyes! I changed the strap after the pictures, I had forgotten to do it well, must be ok with the grounds, it started with no issues yesterday ! Soon the first test ride !

I love your garage. We were in Germany last month and saw several old garages similar to yours and I fell in love with them. After viewing them I understood why we refer to our construction method as "stick building"! Compared to those massive wooden columns/posts's our 2"x4"s look like tiny sticks. That orange peel will easily buff out and look like glass. Keep uptake great work.

Yes, I painted it with base coat/clear coat. Il did not really make a booth, just layed some cloths over the car to avoid too much dirt coming from the top of the old barn. And for the cloud..well, let's say that the barn isn't really waterproof.. all in all, turned out quite ok, not perfect but after polishing it will be a good "quality driver" paint-finish

And now the finishing touches:






Put the interior back (temporary, as GT door panels and some more surprises are coming..):


And ....the first 20kms since august 2021 and back home!!




Felt sooooo good to drive it again!! It's such an amazing car !!

Looking good! What exactly is the shade of orange? It seems a little more vivid than Signal Orange, which I always see as having more yellow in the highlights.
