Oct 10-11!

The important stuff ( clarified 6/18):
*If you bring one or more gear boxes for rebuild then the cost is $300
*Spectating is free and you can ask questions (but will have to wear a thong on the out side of your pants so we know you are freeloading tongue.gif )
*The cost includes: gloves, rags, cleaners, parts trays, aluminum baking sheets for parts cleaning spots, sarcasm, foul language (when no kids around), etc.
*New parts area available through me ( I will beat any suppliers prices, let me know). Seal kits area available before hand for $40
*People are encouraged to bring cores to part out as people will potentially need more parts than I will have.
*The clinic is 2 full days and I will work as long as you do. I usually start at 0930 and go until after 2200 if necessary.
*PM me if you are going to be a paying guest and make sure to tell me which clinic you are going to attend.

I'll come, thanks for doing this.
Pnambic
If I'm in town, I'll be there.
And ditto the thanks!
carr914
Depending on the date, it would give me an excuse to visit my son (not the EX mad.gif ), even better if you built my tranny there and I could bring it home.

Dr Evil
Nope, yours go under the knife very soon. I need to get these things out of my garage! I got 3 more today blink.gif
Jake Raby
I see that Mike is gonna host the Clinic, but if more people want to attend or you need more space I'd offer up some space at Aircooled Heaven for the event..

I have a presentation room for those aspects of the workshop and I doubt you could find a better environment for the class than being on the top of the mountain...
john grier
That close to me
Yes I will be in and my brother also
That would be two more 914's there.
Atlanta or Jakes would be fine.
This should be a great learning event!
URY914
Depending on the date I'd try to make it up
904svo
I hope to be there too.
Dr Evil
Interesting offer. How far is AH from Atlanta?
michaelmoo
Having been to AH I will say it is a fantastic place and would be a perfect place for this. We can still do it at my place. I dont mind. AH is about 1.5 to 2 hours from the ATL airport. My place is about 30 minutes from the airport.

Dr. feel free to PM me and we can talk about what you need, etc.

Mike
Jake Raby
Let me know what you guys decide.

It's a nice drive up to AH, sounds like a road trip to me. driving.gif
SGB
Dang- I would try to come up just to meet ya, Doc. My rebuild is doin just fine though so I would be just kickin around in Heaven.

Jake- I'm looking for a good 2.0 longblock for my winter project. Got anything rebuildable in the barn?
mharrison
I would be interested in this. The date will be the deciding factor though. (It will also decide if I DRIVE the teener over or haul my transmission!)

That brings up a good point. Will there be facilities/time to R&R the transmission? Or would attendees need to plan to show up with a loose transmission?
JFJ914
Yeah, let's do it in "Heaven". I'm in either way.
Dr Evil

That depends. I am open to R&Ring, but those people would need to show up earlier and it depends on how many there are. R&R would kick ass as you would be testing your rebuilt the same day smile.gif

Is there anyone that would not be able to make it to AH? Is everyone cool with AH? If the distance to AH doesnt cut into out clinic too much, since it is a 2 day event that is 8 hours of driving over 2 days which is a lot of shop time, then I am cool with it and it would be a great excuse.

Is Michael's place closer to everyone?

Michael, I'll be in touch soon.
mharrison
Are there any places to stay near AH?

I had this great picture in my mind of a hotel parking lot with 1/2 dozen 914's up on jackstands with no transmissions in them! Then asking the hotel if we can use the shuttle van to haul 6 people and their transmissions! LOL!
blitZ
Helen is a bit farther north. It's a German like village with some restaurants and lodging. There are some good roads in that area, popular biker destination. We could mix a drive in with the class.
michaelmoo
Depending on the number of people that need a place to stay. I also have a cabin that is in Blairsville GA not all that far from AH. It is 4 bedroom, 3 bath. Its on 2 acres so if some want to camp and still have a place to bath, eat, etc. We can use that.
Zimms
As long as I am free taht weekend, I'd like to attend as well. I have a 2.o that I want to rebuild this winter with internals from Jake. It would give me the opportunity to get the case/heads to him to be cleaned up.

Mark
Jake Raby
7 Miles away from AH is the Alpine Village of Helen GA... German food, German Beer and so close to Heaven.

stepuptotheMike
I would be very interested in this event. Cover the whole drivetrain in 1 spot. biggrin.gif

Mike
Dr Evil
If the people want it I will go there. I have no aversion to going to AH. Seems weird, though, Evil goes to Heaven blink.gif

By the way gloves, rags, cleaners, parts trays, aluminum baking sheets for parts cleaning spots, sarcasm, foul language (when no kids around), etc. are all included with the price of admission for those actually rebuilding the gear boxes.

For those of you definitely paying to rebuild your box, please PM me so I can get a list and plan accordingly.

Thanks smile.gif
Jake Raby
If the timing is right and people can stay a couple more days I could do one of my tuning workshops as well..
IF you guys decide to have it here... It is up to you.
mharrison
Hmmm...a Dr. Evil transmission workshop and a Jake Raby tuning workshop. Maybe it's just me, but that sounds pretty awesome!

(I just hope I have time to get my car road worthy prior to this event so I can bring it!)
Dr Evil
That nearby cabin sounds very tempting and doable smile.gif
poorsche914
Any idea yet when this might take place? A trip through the TN/NC/GA mountains sounds like fun! driving.gif
Dr Evil
The PNW one will be Sept 12 weekend, plan for any weekend after that smile.gif Start suggesting now.

Just FYI folks, the clinic is 2 days and is working for 12 hours both days. There will not be time for grab assing in the hills until all the work is done. If those with working cars want to stop by and then show off by going for a drive, well then......Fuck you tongue.gif I and the others will be jealous wink.gif

Dr Evil
blink.gif yer from MS, where is the weather data from?

It is looking like PNW on the 12th, trying to do SoCal on the 19th so I can stay on the same coast back to back. You guys can have after that, will that work?
Joe Owensby
Jake's place is actually better for me, but either one will do. I am pretty flexible on schedules. JoeO
d914
I'd be interested even though Im not using a 901......sounds like fun either way

Don't worry.. There is no grab assing occurring here! If it comes here.

I have a busy September and by far the best time to be here is in October.. The weather is awesome and the leaves are at full color..

The weather data is from Helen,GA. That's the closest place to Jake's shop that I could find average temps for. (Very near there.)

I'm open to either location, but michaelmoo's place is about 2 hours closer for me.
Dr Evil
Ya'll decide on a place and time smile.gif

Octoberfest in a German village with curvy roads near by? What the hell else could one ask for with Evil in Heaven and a lot of teener nuts.

I need votes. Who is for Atl and who is for Aircooled Heaven. Lets try to get this nailed down this week so I can plan.

I vote for bear hunting at Jakes place.
Zimms
Jake's in Oct. works for me.
michaelmoo
October is goo for me also. Just not the last weekend... Halloween is one of the best holidays.
mharrison
October is fine. Either location is fine with me. If the teener will do 6 hours it will do 8!
poorsche914

Aircooled Heaven aktion035.gif
Dr Evil
So far ACH has votes. smile.gif I agree, not during Halloween and my 1yr wedding anniversary is the 18th so nothing around there.
Jake Raby
I'll check the UGA Football schedule and look at the schedule for Land Speed racing as we have a new forced induction record to set with the Peanut Special... We should be cooking around 152MPH :-)
Dr Evil
First thread is updated with pertinent info smile.gif
Dr Evil
OK, I have updated the 1st post to reflect all of those that have expressed interest. 17 total with 2 paying students and 15 spectators. I am gonna need some more paying students to make it worth while (tickets, food, lodging expenses). If you are not on the lists or on the wrong list, let me know. If you dont PM me I wont put you on the paying list as I dont want to assume smile.gif

It looks like early Oct at ACH. Is this OK with everyone? Is there an airport near by I can fly into?
