Yeah I was pretty shocked it was that solid given the state of it's surroundings. THe suspension ear looks like it has already been replaced. I'll know better once I get it cleaned up

Nice. All of Mark's rust apparently relocated to my car while they were sitting next to each other.

Mar 22 2015, 09:33 AM
So there used to be a bunch of alignment spacers on the passenger side -see post 218. Do you think this was due to damaged chassis or just poor alignment when the replacement outer suspension console was welded on?

So back in the '80's, this car was my daily driver. In the summer, I used to tie some red plaid beach towels around the seats to keep the vinyl from burning my skin. So when Steve put some 914rubber.com seat covers up for sale, I had to have them. I have a couple core sets of seats that need the full recover. Will pick up new bolster vinyl and foam from mikey and probably some seat heaters. I'll use the old bases to trace onto new pressboard. Can't wait.

No Mark decided to go with something contrasting in the engine bay. The body colored air cleaner was a bit too ricey. We're thinking gold on the air cleaner would look good with the purple candy body
Amazing work in the reconconstruction zone, but the Purple ebay air filter?

Mark, the guys in the shop want to send you a real high flow msds filter, maybe one like this with the red end cap.
They told me that they will go on a hunger strike on Monday if you don't get rid of purple Haze.

I have an original 914-6 oil tank but the paint was a bit beat up. So after stripping the paint, there are spots of corrosion through the copper plating. So now do I;
Treat the corrosion and powdercoat
Treat the corrosion and epoxy paint
Remove copper and start from scratch - probably $$$
scotty b
May 24 2015, 09:29 PM
sandblast and epoxy paint. It will be rust free and have much better protection than original. Best bet is to send it to Pacific oil cooler. They'll sonic clean, pressure test, repair i f necessary and paint,roughly 300.00 depending on repairs

Not sure when they switched to the late dash with the bottom vents, but I thought it was '73. If so, doesn't that alone date it as an earlier shell, unless someone went to the trouble to convert the whole dash assembly to the early config.
MY 5/72 1.7 has the late dash with side vents, no vent on the top center of the dash.
